Perfect!! Thank you. I had already removed the old chrome 4x4 emblem and regretted not measuring or marking them first so I know where the new ones go. This helps. Thanks again

chill, it's a joke, don't take it too hard. Don't like it, return it. You got your refund, flag them as false advertisement. I don't get why u need to bring such negativity on a small deal for.

    Agreed,

@Sin City Taco you're getting a refund AND get to keep the badge, sounds like they're taking care of you since you're not happy with the product.

Now that you're getting an OEM badge I'd like to see a side by side comparison to see how inferior the product they sent you is to make such a stink. Link in the Ebay listing says it's a Tundra badge so I'm not sure its the exact same size as a Tacoma badge, I mean it says it's compatible but that likely means it sticks to a body panel.

I can understand where the OP is coming from.

A 4x4 badge is rather inconsequential. But there are lots of items out there that cost hundreds of dollars; unethical sellers make it hard to tell what’s good and what's not when we shop online and prices are all over the place.

This also means we have to learn to distinguish fake from OE when we receive our purchases. Many times it’s not that obvious.

I used to buy on eBay more often. But sometimes their return policy can be slow and difficult, and their feedback process is a total joke. I discovered the hard way you need to stick with sellers who have feedback between 100% and 99%. A seller with a 98% feedback is already bad; one with a feedback of 97% or lower is going to be horrid. Sometimes you end up wasting hours just to return a $20 item. So now I find myself buying from Amazon more regularly simply because their return process is a breeze; their reviews upfront and transparent.

You guys have good points on cheap fakes, but some cheap fakes are not that cheap, and still act like cheap fake junk. I am new and don't know where you draw the line ? 5 dollar cheap fakes is ok , what about $500.00 as say a jacket made of all weather and you find weather that tears it apart, and later you find the fakes have nearly the same labels, and the quality was almost as good. but wasn't. This has happened to me but it almost has.

Then there are costs concerned to return items and it can be just to expensive. (Think waste of time and money ) On Amazon I bought what I thought was 3-M water proof glass filler. The item came and it was a real 3_m filler but not the one I ordered by number. I went to exchange it and they said just keep it and sent me the correct one. It would have cost the seller more than the wrong high quality item was worth evidently .

I seem to be noticing a play of words on Ebay nowadays. OEM vs Authentic. Shouldn't be like this.

Let's try this for the last time, since apparently some people here have problems with reading comprehension.

Do I care they are selling fakes? NO
Do I care some people put fake items on their trucks? NO
Do I think that OEM is sometimes pretty close to quality as their fake counterparts? YES

What I care about is being LIED to, for example telling me something is OEM when it isn't. That's it.

I don't care about the money they refunded or the fact they let me keep the item, its the principle of the matter. Some people still do have a set of principles and morals they try and stick to.

They didn't let me keep the item out of the kindness of their hearts, they let me keep it in the hopes i'd keep my mouth shut and not report it or leave them negative review.

Today they sell someone a fake emblem at $12, tomorrow they sell a fake PRO grill and some poor schmuck paid $200-300 thinking he purchased an OEM product.

The fact some of you are having issues comprehending this is beyond me..

Yup. Another game sellers play, on both eBay and Amazon, is to use the OE part number followed by the words “genuine replacement” in the description. So, when you run a search using the OE part number or the word “genuine”, the fake part will show up as well.

They are being legally correct by doing that but also crafty. You have to read very carefully the item description and the reviews, to make sure you are buying a genuine product.

OE vendors have learned to post photos showing the original packaging with the manufacturer logo and part number to make it easier for shoppers to identify the genuine item simply by scanning the photos.

Yup I've seen that too. In my case it said "Genuine OEM Part."

When I shop eBay I now select sellers North America Only. This filters out many crafty sellers but not all. Many crafty sellers have learned to show a North America address to increase search hits. But weeds out a good 80% of them.

PS - now that I own a Fiat 124 Spider Abarth, I find many serious sellers are located in EU and Australia, so I have to search the whole world.

But Tacoma being a North America only product, we should be safe shopping North America based sellers.

Can you post the original Ebay ad? I want to see for myself to determine if it is truly misleading as all I have to go on is your word what the ad says regarding "OEM quality" of the part and quite frankly, a little tired of your condescending attitude.

Who knows, maybe you have the comprehension problem.

I don't need to read the ads to know they're obviously 90% gonna be fakes. I mean is the seller from Toyota? No. Is it ebay marketplace? Yes. Is it a shop? Yes
Then no shit 90% it's fake. Like if an individual just wanna sell takeoff parts from their truck then it's understandable, but if it's from a shop then obviously they mass produced them and not from Toyota factory.
Next time use some common sense
