I've been debating pulling the trigger on a Prinsu double cab rack for awhile now. Considering the Canadian dollar, It makes the Prinsu rack a little pricey for my liking. All said and done, shipped to my door i am looking at close to $950. People seem to love them, and i can't argue with them.

But its got me thinking. I currently have the OEM roof rack (cross bar) type thing now. I want to be able to store my Pelican case, maxtraxx, and two-2gallon rotopax up there. The obvious issue with the OEM cross bars is: one-Mounting these items for ease of use as well as security. And Two- The bars have an arch to them, making the gear not sit flat.

I've been starring at this setup scratching my head trying to figure out a solid way to possibly modify what i have to suit my needs. I have thought about aftermarket cross bars mounting to the OEM cross bars in the stowed away position. That doesn't help me out a whole lot though. Another idea was mounting steel/aluminum extrusion from bar to bar, creating a platform which basically achieves the same result as a Prinsu Rack. Or possibly the same approach but with wood?!

If anyone has done this or has any idea's, please chime in!

    Thanks!
