So I just picked up a matte black OEM rear bumper for free last night. I am planning on either bedlining it or paint matching. However, it has these wierd things on the sides. The guy I got it from had the same intentions, and he had no idea what they are. Can anyone tell me what these things are? They almost look factory. Thanks!

No idea, definitely doesn't seem factory though.

Looks like a very light duty tie down spot, maybe for holding an awning open or something?

The car enthusiast in me wants to say it's a quick release for the bumper but that's highly doubtful lol

That's what we figured, that it was some sort of tie down point. I may take one off and see how big the hole is, if I can weld a patch over it or something.

I think thats what the plastic toppers attach to… there should be a center one and the 2 pieces on the side ….

What do you mean by plastic topper? Like a cover piece that goes over it?

I don't believe the plastic covers ever came down that low on the 2.5gen. TBH the only plastic I can remember on my old chrome bumper was the tailgate step, and along the top edge. never down the side like that screw

They hold the factory plastic foot pad on. The piece on the corner of the bumper.

It's not under the plastic part though. It's on the side.

The pesky rattle that has persisted for many months was Finally found after months of head scratching where it was coming from over small bumps at slower speed
