I bought a base model truck taco, and I knew what I was getting (or not getting in this case), but the one thing that I wish I did have now is the OEM rear view back up cam.

I think I can get all the things I need from Ebay, but I want to know how easy this sort of install would be. Dealership wants something like a grand for everything I think (just an estimate from a salesman).

For a noob like me, should I go it alone and see what happens or say fuggit and keep doing thirty six point Austin Powers turns in parking garages?

Thanks for any advice or oncoming abuse.

edit: using the art of the search feature, I now realize that I'm pre-wired for the camera. I may tackle this on my own.

I know I'm talking to myself, but in case anyone else with an '09+ has the same ambitions...

    I just bought this
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=111010005100

    and

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rearview-mi...&fits=Make:Toyota&hash=item2a1e4003d2&vxp=mtr

based on previous posts made. Hopefully it's plug and play or else I'm going to curl up in a fetal position and start crying. Will update with pics if things go well, if I never report back it's because I've died. Tell them my last words were "I shouldn't have eaten that cheese."

hopefully it works out for you. I will say one thing, I like the monitor on the mirror better than on the head unit.
