I installed a remote tailgate lock on my 2019 Tacoma and works just fine. The part number PK3B6-635JS0 says it fits the 2019 - 2020 model. Question- will this fit the 2016-2017 model too? Has anyone installed in a 2016-2017?
    Thanks

The Dealer explained to me when installing mine on my 2020 Tacoma last month the 16/17/18 year models don’t have The power lock port For the wire harness to plug into behind the kick panels passenger side & In the tailgate itself where the power lock motor mounts in the tailgate itself where the power lock motor mounts There is no place on those years so unless you make it work your self or having one installed from a Independent shop in some way maybe have to go after market if available & Tap into the power locks them selfs FYi

I have put in Racesport gen3 leds I'm the process of doing a custom audio overhaul which will include Hybrid audio unity 6x9 mid bass, unity 3 inch mid driver in the dash and fiberglassing tweets in pilar soundeading all the doors, floors, and headliner and I will be using a helix processor to retain the factory radio and as far as subs I might make custom brackets to move rear seat foward a few inches to get a full size sub in there or I might just go with a pair of jl tw5 or tw3 and it will all be powered by jl audio HD amps or I might try out the new hybrid amps
It will work! If the harness in the passenger kick that you tap into is different all you need essentially is to tag the Passenger door lock motor wires! I’ve done a few installs of the oem part and the pop lock

Yes dealer said the black trd Sema rims wouldn’t work on Tacoma’s only 4 runners and I knew they were wrong because they go by part numbers like I said I Heard people having it installed but not from the dealer From Independent radio install places & had to make it work for me wasn’t a problem it was plug & play just over a hour for the dealer to install

Many people in this thread have installed this in 2016 thru 2020 trucks. No problem installing it in my 2017.

Glad that people were able to get it done on there older Tacoma’s when I found out about it I ordered it and had them install it since it’s new & wanted to make sure it didn’t void any Warranty if I installed it my self at least that way I have proof they the dealer installed it.

Are there pretty good instructions that come with this kit? I’m fairly handy but I always like to watch a good YouTube video in advance if possible. I always get the most nervous when I have to pop off some interior trim. Anyone have any tips or videos?

The Dealer parts Department Has it but since mine is under warranty & it was only a 1 1/2 hours for them to install it same morning & it was Done love it should have come from the factory on higher trims at least no door panels had to come off. I watched the guy from the lot.he took the tail light out on the passenger side the tail gate apart side door sil trim kick panel passenger side ran a wire harness from tail gate into cab plugs into brain for power locks on the 19/20 year models there is a place to plug it into.from what the tech told me he even put it up in the air on the rack to run the wire harness along the frame with the other wire harness & straps it to it with plastic straps included in the kit FYi Good luck

Just a quick question, do any of you know if the kit/part #PK3B635JS0 comes complete with the harness or is it just the lock actuator. I called my local dealer he asked for my vin and I told him you are not going to find the part under my vin need to look it up by the number I'm going to give you. I dont think he liked that and started being real short with me. I asked him if it showed it coming with a harness or just the actuator he said it doesn't say I have no idea. He said this is the first I have heard of this working on an 18. So before I order it threw them I just wanted to see if anybody knew what all it comes with.
