I ordered an OEM roof rack for my 2014 Tacoma Double Cab which was delivered today, but there are no instructions with it. Does anyone have these install instructions as a PDF? I saw a YouTube video on how to install, but it's basically a slide show. I'd rather have the real instructions in front of me when trying to install because of several fit issues people have complained about.

Are you by any chance selling the roof moldings?

There was a write up from here i found via Google that I used to verify my install. It's super easy and intuitive though. Something along the lines of:

    1) Remove the roof moldings. They're just snapped in.
    2) Poke holes in the painted-over tape and clean them out so the threads are clear and exposed
    3) Bolt down the front brackets, with the washers between the bracket and truck.

I had to do the following somewhat simultaneously to get it lined up just right:
    4) Put the roof rack bolts through the rack with the washers between the rack and truck, but don't bolt them yet.
    5) The front will snap onto the yellow clip on the front brackets (I think it's yellow anyway). Sounds a little confusing, but it'll make sense once you see it.

    6) Bolt down the remaining fasteners on the main body of the rack.

It's been a couple years since I installed mine, but it was super easy. Did mine in a Home Depot parking lot (bought it used and the previous owner lost a couple pieces of hardware).

Thanks for the tidbits here. I have a bag of screws/hardware, but because there's no directions, it's not clear where each of these pieces go.

If you can post a pic of the different ones I might be able to remember what goes where.

How much did you get your OEM roof rack for?

I believe it was roughly $200.

This is the hardware that came with the OEM cab rack I bought. Where do the (4) white plastic pieces go? I don't see them in the instructions PDF. I find it odd that the long bolts are Philips while the small bolts are Allen heads.

Sweet. Might pick one up soon. Always loved the look of the OEM roof racks.

No instructions? Allen and Phillips screws? Are you sure it's OEM? I could have sworn all the screws that came with my rack were torx. And I can't remember any white plugs either.

I think it's a generic knock-off. Hopefully I can find torx equivalents at Lowes. And hopefully it fits snug on the truck. I did notice that there's 2 half-loop like areas on the inside of each rail. Are these tie-down areas? Are they sturdy?

On a side note, I'm looking at purchasing an ARB 2500 awning and wondering where the hell I can support the front part of the awning with the cab roof rail. I may just need to go with a smaller awning.

That doesnt look anything like the hardware that came with mine either plus it looks as though your missing the 2 front brackets that come with yellow clips to hold the front portion down, see pic....The washers I got were more of a sealant type washer so water couldnt leak into the cab...as I recall mine were all torx head screws as well and did not have both long and short they were all the same length.

I do have those brackets, they just are not in my photo. The white plastic pieces in my package seem to be yellow on your photo. But I have 4 of these. I'm going to stop by Lowes and find the type of bolts that are mentioned in the PDF linked above which is the OEM parts list and instructions.

When you install it dont be suprised if the drivers side front isnt quite flat to the roof...I had to take mine back off to bend the bracket down a bit and still couldnt get it completely flat with the roof line...seems as though there was a thread somewhere about this problem with others...mine doesnt leak so I just got use to it that way.

I remember reading that. I'm really not even sure how those metal brackets function as part of this system.

I believe they were intended to hold the front section down flush to the roof obviously and the passengers side does that very well just never seemed to quite work as good for the drivers side. Over all I am happy with mine.

Following this. Definitely on my list of "wants". Where did you order it from?
