OEM roof rack yellow clip help!

    2014 Toyota Tacoma
    For the LIFE of me I cannot get the little clip in my roof rack to seat into place in the bracket that I just installed on the truck. It is OEM and I've watched three youtube videos and am following the written instructions step by step but still nothing.

    It says to "Visually align the yellow clip at the front above the hole in the bracket. Use the palm of your hand and strike it firmly to seat it in place" and every time I try that it pushed the bracket part down with the yellow clip but does not engage and there is still a gap between the rubber gasket and the roof.

    Help?
    Thoughts?
