As the title states, I'm looking for a rear shock that is normally used on a different truck but happens to fit the Tacoma. F-150, Ram, Silverado, Tundra, Titan, etc. I'm thinking about getting some Fox shocks (no reservoir) but they only have it listed on the Tacoma for 1" over stock. If a Silverado just happens to be the same mounting style and is 3" longer than a Tacoma it would work out perfectly. Any ideas? Thanks.

@Wheeler's Off-Road Inc sells a fox 2.0 rear shock with no resi for 0-2" lift. Allpro also has another part number on their site that says up to 3" I believe. I can't remember but I think they fit other Toyota models, like 4Runner or FJ's, so they should bolt right up.

Yep, just found that on All Pro's website. FJ Cruiser and 4runner rear shocks. Also 1997 - 2004 Ford F150 2wd rear shocks are the same....

We usually recommend for the Dakars:
OME: Bilstein 5100: Bilstein 5160's: Icon The extended length on the OME shocks are 23.93" and are meant to work with the Dakars. The Fox shocks that we carry have an extended length of 23.55" which is just slightly shorter. So just barely out of the ballpark of working no problem. If you carried constant weight on the Dakars, it would be a for sure option since you are not at the max lift heights of those leaf springs.

*Be careful of the valving of shocks meant for bigger sized trucks. It may be the same and could work out perfectly. BUT be for certain or your Tacoma will/could ride like a dump truck.

Yeah, ride quality was definitely a concern with using a shock designed for a full size truck. But that's assuming the manufacturer actually changes the valving for each application and not just the length & mounting styles....
