4230 is without integrated NAV

Does your truck have non-integrated NAV (NAV without the use of a phone)? If yes then it is the one you want. If no, then you want 4200. Even with that I would verify it has the separate NAV box under the main HU if you have integrated NAV

 

The window sticker said Premium w/ integrated NAV. Thanks! I never paid for the NAV when it expired and I can hardly remember but it was touchscreen when I first got it.

 

Ok then you want 86140-04200. If you are buying online used, just make sure it has the GPS box. My picture of the back in post #6 shows what it looks like. Sometimes these parts guys advertise a part# then remove the box and sell it separately. Make sure it has the harness too

 

So with the 86140-4200 I would have another box under the head unit?

 

I thought according to your post #63 if I had a touchscreen NAV which I did originally (just didn't pay for it anymore) I would want the 4230?

 

I have not pulled the radio but this is what I should have and it looks the same.

86140-04230 is what the other guy mentioned in post #61 which is WITHOUT integrated NAV

 

So that's the stereo in you truck now. The part# you are looking for is in post #65 86140-04200 3.0 Entune with built in GPS. This is the same unit that comes in the 2020+ Tacomas

 

Yes sir, but what's throwing me off is the mention of a separate GPS unit.

 

I'll pull the head unit when I can and just make sure of the part that's in there. The link above is definitely the same faceplate.

 

The part # I mentioned should have the separate GPS unit. As I said earlier, Just because the seller is selling a 04200 doesn't mean it will come with a GPS unit, assuming you are buying used. Just trying to help you be an educated consumer.

I apologize if we are going around and around but I can do all this stuff I just don't want the wrong HU. I remember the NAV worked on the touchscreen when I bought it in 2019. I haven't used it since the freebee expired. With the premium Entune 2.0 are you saying I should have the separate GPS unit under it and I would need 86140-04200 which would also use a separate GPS unit? I thought integrated meant it would be part of the headunit.

 

Both 2.0 and 3.0 Entune units WITH integrated Nav have the separate box right under the HU. This is shown in post# 6. If you didn’t have integrated NAV you wouldn’t have the separate box. If you looked at it from the back it would almost look like something is missing. The 04230 unit is like this. Those units still have NAV but it uses your phone. Toyota calls it Scout navigation. The only reason I brought this up was because some sellers, especially on Ebay, might advertise an 04200 unit but may remove the GPS box and sell it separately. If you look on ebay for the 04200 and the 04230 you’ll see the difference physically between the 2 HU’s.
One more thing, the Entune 2.0 unit you have now doesn’t “expire”. It’s always there. Press the NAV button on your HU and it will come on. The only thing you might want to do is update the built in maps. That only requires swapping out the SD card. You don’t have to do this though.

Now I get it, thank you so much for the clarification. I kept going on the idea that integration meant incorporated in into the HU! The amount of connections alone will distinguish one from another. I'm still having trouble justifying the cost. I suppose there isn't much an Entune 2.0 update would do? lol

I finally pulled my Entune 2.0 and to my surprise it was a Panasonic head unit, but I couldn't find any Toyota part number on it. Also, I found no box under the HU which I expected to find a NAV box. Does anyone know exactly what unit this is? My original window sticker said I have premium plus audio. Thanks!
