If you don't have the GPS box then you only have Scout GPS. You can test this by pressing the NAV button without any phone around and it will ask for you to connect your phone.

 

Sorry, at the risk of sounding dumb where is the NAV button? I'm 65 and a lot slower than I used to be.

 

There was nothing inside the radio space below the HU and something bolted to the top of the transmission tunnel under the dash.

 

On either side of the screen there are buttons that light up when you start the truck

 

It matters which 3.0 head unit I buy 4200 0r 4230. I was messing with the radio today and pressed apps but saw no nav option.

 

It matters. You want the 4230 unit and you want the regular harness from autoharness since you don't have navigation

 

So, I was able to find the NAV and put a route in without a phone. This means I have integrated NAV and need a 4200 right? But where is the NAV unit?

No, I don't have a JBL unit. See now why I'm confused?

My Radio does look like that but it's not a JBL.

 

So a 4200 with a harness from Auto harness is what I need?

I had the Panasonic unit out today but didn't note the model number.............. what a mistake being I'm taking up too much of your time. The front looks like the JBL. But I don't have that piggyback GPS box and yet the GPS worked without a phone what gives?

 

You have to have the box. That's what the GPS antnnae plugs into. The HU's look the same minus the JBL logo There's many on Ebay that are non JBL with the box. Like the 1st one I posted.

 

I'll pull it tomorrow again but I do not have a box attached to the HU. That group of wires on the GPS box are similar to what the back of my HU looks like. How could the NAV work if it is scout NAV and did they ever mount GPS box somewhere else?

That has the separate NAV box. See the seam between the larger part on top and the thinner part on the bottom? Those 4 connections on the bottom are the NAV box. Looks like you got the same answer from another member in another thread. There is probably numerous part numbers that would work. My HU came from a Sienna which I upgraded the firmware but that only gave me CarPlay. If you wanted Android Auto you were SOL. That part # in the other thread is a 3.0 unit too. It has a CD though, which Toyota probably used in 2020 only. Would still work though.
