Before replacing try cleaning the insert with a paper towel and windex. You'd be surprised how much grit and dirt can get stuck to the insert fooling people to think they now need replacements because the wiper leaves streaks.

I've had my truck almost 5 years now and on my second set of inserts, first being the original set.

Yes you can do just the inserts. I’m not getting a good wipe on the perimeter and was thinking about going to Bosch Icons. Some said there were issues so I don’t know.

I'm definitely going the refill route with the OEM beams from now on. I've had nothing but poor results with the aftermarket beam style. The preformed curve always seem to end in uneven contact pressure and poor cleaning on either the center or the edge.

Does anyone know of compatible aftermarket refills? Was curious in trying to fit am aftermarket silicone refill into the OEM beam.

Anyone have the part number handy for the actual wiper assembly that the inserts go into?

I have the re-fill insert part numbers but can't seem to find the original wipers themselves.

    Thanks!

Only 1k miles on my truck now but the OEM ones seem to work great. Curious how silicone are better?

I proactively bought a set of wiper inserts from the dealer so I had them on hand. My driver’s side original wiper finally split after 38 months.
Note: to make wiper blades last,,, I don’t use them as ice scrapers, that they are not

I will stay with OEM blades when I need them. Don’t know when I will need them because I am still on my 6.5 year old blades from the factory. I will confess my truck is always in my garage when I am not driving it.

This is true. You would be surprised of the people that live here in the projects that do just that. Cheese slid off their cracker or a mouse ate it long ago. LOL!

I will say, the actual housing for the wiper blade inserts weathers pretty quick it feels like.

Has anyone tried to paint over the exposed fiber-glass looking stuff?

Maybe thats dumb, I don't know.

    Worth asking though.

In my 1986 Toyota pickup I always replaced the rubber with OEM until the dealer told me they were no longer available. I ordered a set of the TRICO wipers for it and they look identical to the OEM, I’ve had them on for about a year and a half and all seems good so far. I needed wipers bad for my Tacoma and thought I’d try a set of TRICO’s for it and after the one minute per side installation and also looking like the OEM’s I must say I’m happy, I will replace the rubbers in my OEM wipers but it’s good to have an alternative.
