Finally got around to installing the OEM tailgate lettering. Pics and instructions attached.

Note: They are indeed chrome not stainless steel as I alluded to in my earlier post(s).

 

I too went with the $20 reflective set from eBay. I believe these add +5hp

 

I bought a set of rrentrop's black vinyl ones and removed the plastic Chrome ones the OP is mentioning that came with my vehicle if you want to buy them.

 

5hp? Huh!?!

After applying my "custom cut" silver/white reflective vinyl I confirmed via my DIY-dyno a precise .0015bhp increase in daylight once illuminated however I realized a whopping 150bhp increase which can only be attributed to the reflective photons boosting forward motion. Whether or not my hp increase can be confirmed through 3rd party double-blind study is another matter altogether.

 

Ok, took the link but the exact page doesn't work. Which product name does it go by? High reflective or just reflective 3m vinyl?

 

That's weird, works for me but anyway it's the Oralite 5700-070 which is black silver/white reflective. I purchased the (24" to Two 12" rolls) which gave Rich what he needed to cut my lettering. You'll need to PM @rrentrop to work out the particulars. Then enjoy your black silver/white reflective vinyl lettering. I've received numerous compliments on the road especially at night and twice by our local PD.

Another shout out to @rrentrop! Unbelievable fast shipping, still not sure how he does but I'm thankful nonetheless. I own a TRDOR and there's only two interior color choices I chose Gunmetal so I figured gunmetal vinyl lettering for my glove box would look best. I found gunmetal vinyl, shipped it to Rich and voila they arrived today and were installed about 15 minutes ago. They are nearly identical in color to the interior and I think they look perfect. Thanks again Rich!

 

Ebay closed the listing without warning me first due to a missing field that is now required. I've relisted the reflective black tailgate decals and ensured that this will not happen with my other listings.

 

I think this looks much better than the cheap looking vinyl letters, especially with the embossed lettering.

Cheap is in the eye of the beholder. Some like to fill in the letters but most like the "painted on" look, retaining the stamped tailgate letters. On eBay the vinyl decals easily outsell the piano black letters by more than 10 to 1. I think it's funny how many other vendors have used my original photoshopped concept of the letters on the BBP Tacoma (my fault for not watermarking it!). I've even had other vendors use my customer's photos for their "piano black" letters and when I called them out on it they claim that in photos and from 10 feet away you can't tell the difference. Both look good in my opinion but the piano black letter sellers tend to make theirs sound superior by calling all the vinyl versions "cheap looking". Sales figures don't lie.
