    Guys,

My 2022 TRD off road has about 24k on the odometer and the tires will probably need replaced by next winter. I am not happy with the treadwear on these Goodyear Kevlar OEM tires. They are wearing too quick.

My truck gets zero off road use and I am looking for a tire that has excellent tread life and runs quiet. Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 are the highest rated on Tire Rack and my experience with Defender's on my wife's RAV4 was great. 62K. We live in Southwestern Pennsylvania and our winters aren't bad enough to even get snow tires these days.

I am wondering what people have put on their trucks for mostly highway use and have had good results. Please share any experiences you've had with replacing the OEM tires.

I am asking this because on my 2nd gen Tacoma TRD off road's last set of tires were General Grabber AT and I hated the highway performance of those tires. They were good in the snow but at highway speeds they didn't track well and were not confidence inspiring. They also reduced my gas mileage. Spending $1000 plus only to hate the ride isn't an option these days.

I just replaced my Goodyears at 36k miles. They really hold up to their name, good for a year.

Michelins are expensive but you get the best quality and the longest wear.

The defenders are good and the atx2 is their AT tire that lasts a long time.

PLENTY of forums here on what tires to buy

X2 on Michelin Defender. On my 2nd set, outstanding in all conditions particularly rain.

    I think I did!
I tend to research things first but I always submit a forum question just to see if I've overlooked something.

Michelin makes a fine road/light AT tire.

Defenders are great highway tires, they're quiet, long lasting and have a great mileage warranty. My biggest gripe about Michelins though is over 3-4 years, they start cracking.

I put Defenders on my 21 OR at about 35k miles. My use case is basically the same as you OP, but living next to the Rockies I’m not scared to take these highway tires to the bourgeois campsite if my wife drags me there haha!

They are just as smooth, quiet, stable, and grippy as you image they’d. Only tire I’ll ever run if I can have my way.

FWIW Michelin has discontinued the LTX AT2 in the stock size for the OR :/

Looks like they are getting out of the 16” AT2

My Goodyear Kevlar's made it to 32k, then I started slipping all over the wet road like a ice skating rink. Just put on new Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT tires...so far so good, not a lot of noise and awesome in rain. Years ago we had a CRV with the Michelin Defenders...didn't have the luck everyone else had. We got rid of them after about 20-25k.

I just picked up some General Grabber APT for a nice do-it-all tire in C load rating. Have been great so far. Quiet, light, fuel-efficient. The Michelin Defender LTX AT2 also looked good in the SL load rating. That was my other choice but I found a better deal on the grabbers.
