Does anyone know if this oem tonneau cover is compatible with 2nd generation tacomas?

I know that the 2nd & 3rd Gen toppers are different. The 3rd Gen has a wider end cap on the tail gate & cab height is different.
Does your truck (2nd Gen) have the mount holes shown on post #1, first picture?

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/detailed-bed-dimensions.400407/
Post #3, @The Fluffer listed measurements.

Thanks for the information but unfortunately I can't verify if the mounting holes are there as I have a Leer tonneau cover installed.

Anyone find a part # or link to the pre cut bed caps?

You can also go and get the KB Voodoo bed rail caps http://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/?category=Tacoma+Bed+Rail+Caps. I also got a TC off of CL came with all the hardware except for the screws/fasteners and in same dilemma regarding cutting my caps or buying pre-cut. I'm leaning towards using a dremel tool to cut the slots out and if I ever get rid of the TC will just buy a new set then.

Yea my thought is to cut my factory ones then possibly put door edge trim stuff on the cut lines for more of a finished look

So I am about to pick up an OEM bed cover for $80 with no hardware. I am just wondering if this list is correct and if I am reading it correctly. The number of how many you need is above the part number?

Also I am guessing only 1 of the very first item on the list since it looks like it matches the other 5 in the second part? Whats the difference between the first and second part on the list?

Lastly, the 3rd and 4th item says just one of each but aren't those the actual pegs the cover sits on and wouldn't you need 6 total? Along with that the 5th item looks like the part that goes in the middle of the back of the bed? wouldn't you only need the one?

If this is the correct numbers obviously the second two questions are kind of moot but I was just trying to visualize the diagram of the parts in my head...

Yes there are six mounts total secured with twelve bolts, but the front passenger side mount is different than the other five. That's why you have the 5 and 1 quantities for parts. That list is about everything you need. The last part on that list is the bolts for the front of the header rail to secure the centering pin, you need 2 of those. The only other part missing is the bolt that goes into that front passenger mount, which IIRC was like $80 from toyota.

I'm going off this diagram to look up the parts needed, I see the front passenger side is different than the other 5. But what bolt are you talking about? Is it the (64935-04010) part number?

The list I came up with based off that Diagram was:

    69442-04010 (x5)
    69442-04030 (x1)
    69415-04020 (x5)
    69415-04040 (x1)
    64933-04010 (x1)
    64949-04010 (x12)
    90148-A0006 (x2)
    64935-04010 (x1)

    Yes

That seems about right, only other thing would be the front seals for the header rail, but they aren't necessary. They help keep a little bit more moisture out, but still not 100% watertight.

Yeah I saw a lot of people having trouble with those, I might try and find a different solution or hit up Extang to see if I can get some of their foam seals.

Question: If you remove the bolt holding the front of the cover on, can you open the front? I ordered my truck with this cover, I checked it out pretty thoroughly at the dealer before ordering it, but I didn’t try removing the bolt. I know the Tundra has a similar cover with a lock instead of a bolt and that one folds back. If the Tacoma cover opens from the front after removing that bolt, it shouldn’t be too hard to put a lock in there.

Haven't gotten all my hardware in yet to try it out, but might be worth the try if its as easy as just removing the bolt? Also to add on your idea if that does work you may be able to retrofit a couple of hydraulic supports (like ones for the hood of cars), similar to some of the aftermarket hard covers that fold all the way up?

Could work, I’d like to see if it can be modded to fold all the way up to the cab, struts and a way of hinging and locking it up there. But I would be happy with just being able to put stuff in bins up near the cab
