My 2016 has the OEM Toyota tonneau tri fold cover on it. I have noticed after rain and washing, the rear panel/first panel you lift, has a lot of water in it. WTH .. Anyone else notice this or have an idea of how water is getting inside the panel itself? You can hear it and feel it when lifting the rear panel.

    Thanks

Hmm. Do you mean water is going into the bed? Because I have that issue now ever since I put the Voodoo mid rack on. It leaves a gap for water to go into the bed. Without the rack it should be flush with the bed preventing water to get in.

The water is inside of the panel. When I lift it, some water drips out, but it is actually getting inside of the rear panel itself, crazy....

I would go with warranty on that one. Definitely not normal. Maybe you can get a whole new tonneau cover:bananadance:

Yeah, will bring it up at my next service. Very odd, no damage and just the rear panel.

I have heard of this before... apparently the core is porous and if water can get in, it will penetrate the material... supposedly, it dries out after it sits in the sun. After that, it might warp slightly.

Toyota should take care of this for you under warranty.

Or if it freezes at some point, it could mess it up pretty bad.
    Not Normal, get it replaced

I had the same issue and was able to drain the water. I had to removed the rear section of the tonneau as well as a few rubber bump stops. Water poured out when I leaned the 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg section on its side. I replaced the tonneau then the bump stops and did not hear any water splashing. I’m don’t think it matters what order you do this in. I did come across an issue with the top rubber gasket when reinstalling the tonneau section. It kept getting caught between the two sections but I slid some fishing line under the gasket that was stuck, pulled it out and the gasket snapped back to position. Similar to how they install gaskets on windshields.
