I recently got an OEM tonneau from another Tacoma owner that swapped to a cap.

I was going after a Diamondback SE but decided on this instead because the price was right.

As you can see, my tonneau is like all others in that I the front and rear panels don’t seem to latch down tightly. I know others have tried to make adjustments and move and / or remove the plates under the latches to get these to suck down tighter. I’ve searched around and there are a few threads here and there but there’s nothing definitive. I thought maybe we could make a thread dedicated to successes in getting one of these OEM tonneau covers to fit properly and seal out as much water as possible.

    Anyone have any great insight?

I removed the thin plate on the section closest to the window. I didn't have any leaking in the areas around the seals. I just wanted it to sit a little more flush. The only places where water use to come in was the storage compartment, I had some black patch tape and covered the holes and some around the tailgate. I have a small weather stripping kit I used. Pretty much stays dry as it was never really that wet to begin with. However I never keep things in the bed of the truck, except for a short period or maybe when traveling.
