Hey All, I'm considering acquiring a 2018 SR5 access cab with the 2.7 4cyl, automatic transmission from a family member. The truck does not have a receiver hitch or tow wiring. If I acquire it, I'll need to set it up with a hitch and wiring so I can pull my small aluminum boat (small single axle trailer, no brakes, 4 flat wiring).

I know, I know, you can get one of the Curt or Hopkins T-connector wiring harnesses on Amazon for like $50. I've had bad luck with the internal components of the t-connector boxes melting and causing electrical gremlins that I had to track down on my 2003.

So on my 2013 I was able to find Toyota part PT725-35120 for the trailer wiring. PT725-35120 had everything I needed from the dash all the way back to the 4-flat wire plug at the rear of the truck (flasher, relay, fuse, cable ties, etc). I was able to find a PDF of comprehensive install instructions that looked to be from the FSM. I am very happy with this kit so far and it has given me zero issues. The install was completely plug and play and with all genuine OEM components. I much prefer this route over the connectors that are wired into the tail light and would like to go this route if I can, on this 2018 truck if I acquire it. I haven't cut a single wire on my 2013 and any electrical stuff has been with OEM parts and plug and play. I'd like to continue that with this 2018 if I get it.

Has anyone on here installed OEM tow wiring on a 3rd gen truck that wasn't factory equipped? It seems like PT725-30250 may be the applicable 3rd gen kit, but I can't seem to find anything online about it. There's no pictures of it on any dealer websites or ebay. I'd rather not spend $300 just to find out it won't work for me. Curious if anyone else has gone down this path and found an OEM solution?
