Alright, Ive searched far and wide. Please dont refer me to the towing bible. Already checked there.

So I have a DCLB 09 base model (NOTHING FROM TOW PACKAGE)
I installed an OEM class IV hitch
I purchased the OEM Tow Hitch Trailer 7-PIN Wire Harness 82169-04010 from South Toyota
From what I understand it should be plug and play right? Well I simply cannot figure out where to plug this rascal up at, not to mention the mounting brackets for the trail hitch plug do not match the ones on the OEM hitch. Has anyone added the receiver aswell as the factory wire harness? The only mating plug to the harness is the one going to my backup camera.

Does your truck have the tow package option?

everything on my truck has been prewired, I wouldn't see why not. Ive read about people adding the package but theres no detailed description on the install.

the large brown plug goes to the factory tow package harness, the two small white plugs go to your tag lites for your license plate. And the large white plug goes to your factory light harness. If you are not prewired this will not work.

The OEM 7 pin tow package harness is different . You can’t add it you would have to replace the whole harness back from the left foot kick panel and add a bunch of random wires and fuses through the firewall.
Easier to do you own freestanding harness.
    You’re not pre-wired for this

You could probably get the connectors to plug in what you have at the junkyard but I wouldn’t if I were you. Toyota uses too small a wire gauge and you’ll get too much voltage drop to charge a trailer battery properly especially if it’s an AGM

Yeah, I was hoping that I could OEM my way out of this, but I guess aftermarket is the way on this one.

It's crazy how much internetting I had to do to get THIS very information. Adding the obvious but this part replaces the license plate lighting Y-harness that's currently there for tow package Tacos.

Jumping on here to see if anyone has any info on the bolts that connect this bracket to the hitch? Looks like a couple of flanged hex bolts but mine are missing! Part# or specs on these bolts would be greatly appreciated!

edit: deduced it down to possibly an M7-1.0 x 12mm hex but having trouble finding a flanged... Ace was NOT the place and the autoparts store didn't carry M7.

skrazz - If you are thinking of mounting the trailer plug socket on those brackets - don't. That exposed mounting point has been the culprit for many destroyed parts - and the reason the factory now puts them up in the bumper where they belong. Buy the proper sized bi-metal hole saw for the socket, and (carefully) put it to the left of the license plate.

I can't tell you how many I've seen damaged and dangling over the years.......but the number would be high enough to convince you.
