255/85r16 ST Maxx 6112/5160 w/ Dakar RCI armor, sliders, and rear bumper CBI hidden winch mount w/ Smity 20k

I have a hidden winch mount and 10k, sliders, armor, and rear bumper. Went 6112/5160 and Dakar. I went 600lb springs in front and Dakar mediums. Then I went back and moved to 650lb springs and Dakar heavies. I would highly suggest starting with heavier springs. The winch and armor along with no front sway was starting to get a little soft feeling and the rear would sag when towing or with bed loaded. The ride feels much better overall and now I can still make trails with the bed loaded. I feared the ride being harsh when empty, but it actually feels better now.

What is interesting is the right side CV axle has a needle bearing, the left side is “ball bearing”.
Why is this? The left side never causes any vibrations.

I think Toyota knew there was more “load” put put on the right side? And maybe a needle bearing is better to handle this additional “loads”.

Once you lift the Tacoma , it creates a even more “ heavier” loads? East Coast Gear Supply created a solution with there “clam shell bearings.”

A very good thing for Tacoma owners!

Disclaimer: I don’t know that much so…yeah take what I’m recommending with a grain of salt. I’ve been slowly doing my own research and trying to talk to people who know more than me and this is where this information is coming from.

Maybe consider a king setup from filthymotorsports in CO

    https://www.filthymotorsports.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=KING-25001-119&CartID=1

King front and long rear shocks with custom tune. Should land you about $2600 which is pricey but your ride should be dope! It should also keep your towing capacity.

You can call Ben (owner) and let him know what you want to do with the truck and he can talk to you about your needs. He talked me out of spending extra money for my use, which was a nice change.

Secondary option look for trd pro take offs, I haven’t heard of someone who bought them to be unhappy with them yet. Price can vary from a few hundred to 1500. Best deal I ever saw was a set off a 2017 with 30k miles for 300ish? Average probably 1000

EDIT: When my warranty is over in a couple of years I’d like to get the kings for myself. I’ve talked to Ben and based off what I told him (daily driver, haul/tow wood every summer, and super light off roading) he recommended just the front and rear shocks with 600lb springs. I told him I don’t plan on upsizing my stock tire size and would like to keep my stock height in the rear but I’d be willing to level the front up maybe 1-1.5 inches. I am considering getting adjusters but feel like I’d play with em the first week then set and forget, so it could be a waste for me.

He asked me what my vehicle weight was, I guess it helps him valve the shocks appropriately knowing weight and use. He mentioned if I ever planned to do more serious off roading that I could get extended travel with the adjusters. It would require an aftermarket control arm so it would almost double the cost for a new suspension setup.

I will agree it is easier to use, but I don’t understand how it is more accurate.

Many years ago it was propose for Americans to convert to metric. Why it did not work?
Simple every package or product still posted both standard and metric. There was no reason to change.
If they want America to change is make everything in metics. Never use or printed in standards

Money , time , and resistance , Why America will not convert. We use our system for over a hundred years, it work , why change?
It will takes a long time to learn Celsius, meters, kilograms, even read the speed signs ( 30 km/h) etc.
Can you imagine buying a house , size is measure in metric, the size of the lot ( 464.5 meters ) in English 5,000 square feet.

Change ? Resistance is hard to over come.

I like eating my avocado with ketchup. Even my scrambled eggs needs ketchup. The resistance to change? Never!

I decided to go with 5100s and OME 887 coils on the front and 5100's and a deaver add-a-leaf on the back. I dont typically haul a lot of heavy loads, but I do at times, and I also have a Leer shell on it. You could also use stock springs and set the shocks on 5 for a 2" lift. Yes, you can use 5 on the DCLB.
I like the ride better than stock, and it difinitly helps a lot with the weight. Normal heavy hauling, I think i would use a hevier spring pack though.
As others have said, You will want to get the needle bearing replaced with the ecgs bushing. You may not have the issue, but while you are in there, you may as well do it. Cheap insurance.

    I got 1mm= 0.0393700787? Um? Google

in the 70’s. My parents made “Tofu”. A soybean curd. When it was package , the label said “One block”. Was a accepted form of measurement. As you look inside the package was one block of Tofu.
News laws require oz or pounds. To change our labels came at a cost.

Eggs are sold by weight and count. Jumbo is at least 30 oz, extra large is 27 oz, large is 24 oz, medium is 21 oz, small is 18 oz, & peewee 15 oz.
When the wife ask you to pick up eggs at the market? Ask- How many “oz”of eggs you want? If she says 12? Buy the peewee and remove two eggs? = 12 oz?

The Department of Agriculture law. Eggs are sold by Net weight of a dozen.
