    Hey TW,

Looking for some advice if someone has done the same thing before - sorry if terminology is off:

Long story short, during my first uninstall of of the spindle from the OEM driver side UCA Ball joint, I got careless:frusty: and accidently I nicked some of the threads that the castle nut locks onto (it won't go back on clean so I cant put my truck back together from my hub swap:annoyed:)

Im still Still looking at aftermarket UCA's to get rid of the whole thing (yes i know boot is torn), but in the mean time I could really use my truck running by this weekend and dont think getting the new UCA's before then will happen.

My plan: Im hoping to re-tap / clean up the threads on the ball joint so The castle nut will go on cleanly once again. Does anyone know the proper Tap/ dye size to use for these threads on the balljoint? I have never done this before and it will be a friend helping me - he lives a bit away from me so wanted to know the size of the thread to make sure he has the proper dye/tap before making the trip

If anyone has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated! (ive searched quie a bit, specifically for the OEM ball joint / castle nut specs but come up empty handed aside from potential part numbers)

    Thanks!!

    Matt

A file or even some sandpaper should clean that up enough to get the nut on. It doesn't like that bad at all.

Have to tried to thread it on backwards first? With the "teeth" of the nut facing the balljoint.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
A thread file would probably clean it up.
