How's it going everybody? So after some money spent, and some blood sweat and tears I've got the basics of what I want done to the Taco, minus some rear suspension stuff I instend on doing and a decked system.
The purpose of this post is to basically pick everybodies brains on ideas and plans. Like I stated in a previous post this truck is a long term Off Grid capable project for the inevitable civil war/apoclypse event. I've installed the Genesis dual battery system, and loving it thus far, but i don't feel like im fully tapping into its capabilities. I would like to eventually run a fridge, stove, and whatever power sucking devide I decide i want to take with me on adventures. What do you guys suggest i do to route power from the engine to the rear and gove power to whatever it is I want to run. I know this is a little vague, but i suppose that's kinda the point. Im basically wanting ideas on how to fully utilize the potential in my truck to turn into a mobile base station pretty much without having to rely on civilization except for fuel. Thanks everyone, and hope you're all having a great daym

Howbwould the fuse block play in the install? Do i wore the fuse block to the dual battery, then the wires fromcthe rear to the fuse block? Apoligize for the newb questions and such, this is my first time doing all the work myself. I was looking at solar, but i really have no place to put them unless i get a hard top RTT, or one i can unug and plug in whenever i want. And i imagine if i was doing it that way it would involve more wiring amd such, which is fine. Lol, it would just be nice to have like a diagram, or plans already laid out and i could just buy what i need and follow the directions. Thank you for your time.

Some heavy gauge wire to a bed power solution. Make sure the lines are fused. Love the idea of your project!

Bold strategy going for something that uses gas in an apocalyptic event! ;)

Have you installed any solar panels for extra charging?

I saw a product not long ago that was a solar solution that uses two full size roof panels that mount to your hood, and is storable for driving. If I can find it again I'll link it

I always see these apocalypse movies and it's like "Three years later." I'm just sitting here like, "you guys know gasoline doesn't last that long, right? Where are you guys getting this because clearly no one else is working on that."

I have added a power inverter in the truck, so I can run 120v things like power tools. Of course, what you can run depends on the power of the inverter, but the more power, the bigger the inverter gets...

Actually, any liquid with enough alcohol percentage will do. Take ethanol for example

There will be bootleg alcohol for people and bootleg alcohol for cars :p

They'll be on mountain bikes and donkeys if shit goes down. Fuck Tacomas. You'll find me in the high Sierra bikepacking with my family and NO PERMIT, enjoying life and ramen and climbing and getting sunburned until the ramen runs out and my kids eat me. "My Last Summer in the Sierra." That's not a bad way to go.

Prepper cosplay dreams are always logistical nightmares. You don't get very far without fuel.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Convert the V6 to diesel. Gasoline will become scarce but there's a number of substitutes for diesel.
(Not that this is a doable conversion).

I think about the bikes too and then remember how expensive parts are and then how they won't be available when mine wear out.

Run wire from the house battery to the rear of the truck. Make sure you use an appropriate size wire for the length and max amperage and an in-line fuse. I installed a fuse block under the driver rear quarter panel in a water tight case for my fridge and air compressor.

2nd time ive seen this and I’ve just ran 10awg from my stock battery to the bed for my frig. Any more info on parts list used and/or guide? Not sure what else I’d realistically hook up back there besides the frig… led lights for the bed, maybe a compressor down the line for emergencies. 10awg sufficient for this at 18’ (guessing length based on where 20’ ended and if I mounted in the same spot)?

FYI Solar: Some company makes a form fitting solar panel for the Taco's hood. It kind of looks like a decal from afar.
