I was extremely nervous at first thinking that my batteries wouldn't fit. Off grid engineering killed this plate. If you plan on running D34s it'll be cake. There's a small issue in my 17 Tacoma where I had to move the horn a few inches forward but it was no stress at all. Everything feels snug tough and top notch. I'm beyond please. Hyped to have another company I can trust be included in my vehicle.

Sorry to ask such a noob question....but why another battery? I see a few people that have utilized that space for another battery but never got around to asking for what/how they use them..

typically the dual batteries you've most likely have been seeing is to run extended power for their overland gear. the batteries are typically dedicated to whatever you need the extra power for. my set up is dedicated directly to the audio system. so i have realistically consistant power with minimal voltage drops or surges to my amplifiers. sounds better, louder, lasts longer, and due to it being dedicated to the stereo and since its a deep cycle i have all the time in the world to drain an entire battery on just my stereo and have my truck still able to start up with another agm battery in the stock location dedicated to the stock accessories. just depends on how much amps or volts you're pulling through your truck.

Ahhh I gotcha. So I am kind of looking into this idea for when I end up getting a system and also when I get my light bars, pods, rock lights that way I don't have to worry about pulling from the same battery that starts my truck. I would just need to figure out what battery to get and how to wire that sucker up.

Depending on your system you might not need dual batteries. I'm at 1800 watts rms which is continues true power at max. Which if it's maxed I'm running roughly 261 amps on the stereo alone. But I'm a stereo nut. No one in their right mind does what I did. The common system is 300-600 rms for the subs and 200 rms for the speakers. If you drop in an amp and new speakers it will most likely be 300 to 350 rms. But even then I'm still double the average system. Let's say your system is 950 rms total. You'd only be running 131 amps at full blast. Mind you full blast is like blowing your shit up. So at the level you run it, it will probably draw 90-100 amps. The stock alternator is 130 amps which is quite decent. But honestly. I believe you will be just fine running all of that to a single deep cycle agm battery. I would definitely get no smaller than a D34 yellowtop optima. If you can fit a D31 odyssey deep cycle agm. But it. But since you will be running your car while you're powering your lights and your draw isn't that insane, I think you should just swap the battery and throw in a 2 or 5 farad capacitor and call it a day.

Mind you, you can't charge a wet cell and a gel battery on the same circuit so you'll need to change them both. That's about 475 bucks. The tray is 210. The isolater is 75 bucks. And the wire is probably around 45 bucks. But if you aren't the best with installing electronics don't do it. If you try to plug your isolater into something other than ignition on accident you can short the entire computer system. It's like 800-1k for just the batteries.

5 farad capacitor... I seen and worked around 1 - 3 farad caps on military electronics a looooong time ago. A 5 though.... I'd be afraid to get within 10 feet one one that big.
