I tested out my 50QT ARB Fridge this last week and it worked great. I need to hardwire it in and add a mount but over all I have no complaints

So I finally drank the kool-aid and picked up a Waeco CF50. Have had it a couple weeks now as my beer storage and it works killer. Colder then ice cold. Excited to use it for upcoming trips. Fit's great in the bed, and a lot smaller footprint then the 60qt I was using prior.

Question, how many of you are running yours in the bed, exposed to dust and vibration? Using any form of dampening? Any problems?

Usually I would have, but AllPro has a weld-it-yourself kit for a decent price and I was short on time for a upcoming trip.

I have mine in the bed. Just put it back in there today. It lives in there under my shell 3 seasons. Winter is on demand season for it. I use the winter for mostly freeze dried items when we are alpine climbing.

I ran a dedicated feed from the fuse box all the way to the back. Wired in a powerport and usb ports as well.

After all the research I did, I bought the Waeco because they make the ARB fridge, it was cheaper and liked the look of the dark grey cover. Also, it has a manual bypass switch so if the control unit goes out in the middle of the desert, you can manually run the compressor to keep it going.

Interesting, the Waeco looks the same as the IndelB I just picked up.

Looking for comments on Waeco 50 vs whynter 45 or 60?

and; has anyone successfully replaced a second gen tacoma console with the waeco "console fridge?" CDF-11?
    I haven't measured the tacoma console, but the cdf-11 is 21.3 x 14.2 x 9.4 inches

Console fridges are normally not real fridges. Convection fridge maybe? They are normally only good for a 10-20 degree temp swing. I would need to read up on the specify one. FORD has one for the ford flex. It is not a true fridge like the ones we are using.

That one looks huge and might be a real fridge. Based on that size, I would venture to say it won't work in the tacoma.

I got worried the other day. My fridge was in the truck as usual. Then the truck was hit by a neighbor. Yes, an accident. It was running off a 12v outlet I had installed next to the the 120v outlet in the bed.

Anyways, back to the issue. Initial inspection looked fine. Temp was holding etc. The next day. I saw 50º vs the 39º I had it set on. Later the temp was @ 70º. I banged it pulled the cord etc. No compressor kicking on.

I ordered another one out of fear that it was toast. Thought the impact had caused the compressor motor to get stuck or something.

After pondering the problem a couple days and reading some of the reviews. I was fearing the worst. Then the AH, HA moment hit me. Maybe the compressor needed a 'jump start'. Like a higher amp more power jump. Say the 120v outlet? Yeah, I plugged it in, and there was a visible and audible 'pop'. Still no compressor turn on like I was used to. Banged it a couple times up and down in the bed. More like an exaggerated rocking back and forth.

She jumped to life. I took the 120v outlet out and left the 12v in there. an hour later she was and still is @ 34º and holding within the normal range.

Home depot has 10% off on appliances right now. That includes the Whynter fridges.

I have the fridge still in transit. Couldn't cancel the order till it was in the store. So when it comes, I'm returning it. \\

Was offered a deal on a National Luna and ARB fridges recently. This WHYNTER I have has been great besides this accident. Then doing some simple trouble shooting, got her back to life.

8k worth of damage to the truck so far. I could see where the severe shock could have a negative impact on a fridge freezer compressor.

Just saw the guy last night and told him about the fridge. He said to tell the insurance people. Not sure they will cover it though. Will see what they say.

I have a Whytner 65quart fridge and went on a 2 week trip with my wife last September. I didn't have to worry about it. I do have an odyssey extreme battery but no dual battery setup. It's a sweet fridge you'll love it.

Yes that is a good idea. I added the smallest bag of ice that I could to the fridge and kept it sealed as much as possible over night with the fridge off and it stayed plenty cold enough for the ice to stay solid.

Have left my Waeco going for almost 2 days off a standard Interstate battery and the truck started no problem.

A computer dust filter would stop quite a bit of the dust without affecting the air flow much, plus they are washable. A louvered cover would also help.
