Hello everyone, I have a 2020 Tacoma off-road and a couple months ago I swapped the stock bumper and put in one of the go-rhino bumpers to beef it up. That bumper came with a light bar mount that sat directly infront of the pre collision sensor so when it started tell me the pre collision system malfunctioning I wasn’t surprised. I recently removed the entire light bar mount, got tired of not having cruise control, and the pre collision system is still not working. I’m starting to think the problem might be the bumper itself since it does hang a bit higher than the standard one. I swapped out the grille for the pro style and it worked better for a bit but now still at the same spot. Does anyone else have this problem with setting up aftermarket bumpers, bars, or anything of the sort and how do you bypass that? I’ve heard of a way to change some software on the car but sounds super complex, anything helps thanks fellas!

I have the ADD honeybadger bumper and a Rigid Industries grill. I had to do all kinds of gymnastics to get TSS working, including have a custom bracket made. It worked for the most part, but would always throw messages whenever I took it off road and it got dirty. Got sick of it and had the dealer turn it permanently off, and I disconnected it. They charged me $150 to do it, but glad I did it.

Wow that’s a lot simpler an option than what I had in mind, but once they did do that are you able to use the cruise control and everything else no issues?

Yep everything else works, just not the TSS system. Only downside is you have the off amber indicator lit all the time in the dash.

That’s awesome, is there a specific name for the service for them to do that? I talked to someone at Toyota and they didn’t have a clue

The thing that ticked me off was I told them that I wanted to disable the sensor because it throws the error message whenever it gets dirty. They ended up writing on the service ticket that it was due to extreme off Roading. I asked that they change it because that is not true and could potentially impact warranty claims in the future and they wouldn’t change it.
