I would like to know how well these Tacomas hold their alignment after a day of off roading or crawling.

It's nice to see somebody curious about a concern I also have. My DCLB TRD OR 4x4 has nearly 40k miles on it and and has had to be re-aligned 4 times since new. With only two incidents of very mild off-roading. This compare to my ex-truck 2004 Nissan Frontier DCLB 4x4 only needing alignment once in 104k miles and many mild to moderate off road excursions.

Yeah wouldn’t have answered if I didn’t. I’m lifted etc and haven’t had an issue. Couple decent whacks that threw the wheel that I thought was it. But has been fine

I drove a Gladiator and it seemed to drift back and forth when driving on the highway. I haven't driven the new Tacoma yet. How do they do on the highway?

    What was it wondering about?

But I'm thinking your own extensive test drive would be more meaningful.

Keep in mind if you start changing suspension, wheels, tires and using big box alignment shops, you open the door for risk.

They hold alignment ok, as long as you dont hit something hard.. they do sell weld on alignment tab reinforcements, as teh stock tabs are just bent sheet metal that under hard wheeling/impacts tenst to bend, and allow the alignment cams to rotate out of spec. I run 265/70/17's, and have done some moderate wheeling, and have had no issues on my 2016 TRD OR (bought used in 2018)...

I get mine re-aligned just about after every offroad trip. Got the spec sheet I like when Firestone finally got it right and I just hand it to them and say make it this again! Yea its Firestone, not the best... but $200 for lifetime anytime alignments worked for me! Plus I can take it into any Firestone no matter where the adventures take me! Had a custom alignment done once and it was $170 alone.

Typically though, after any rough offroading trip, my shit is out of whack!

Firestones here in the northeast have stopped doing lifetime alignments on anything with a lift. To much money and time consuming, and not enough techs that actually know what they're doing. At least in MA they wont do it. Wouldn't even lengthen the control arms on my jeep, since they're fixed length from factory. Just find a good off road shop that does alignments. Most alignment shops will make it worse since they're trying to align to OEM specs which doesn't work well when lifted

That right there is smart. And key to success with a big box chain and unknown tech skill or equipment maintenance.

Because if you 'tell' them numbers you confuse them. Espeically if your numbers are on the edge of the OE range.

Most of the techs only shoot for 'in the green'.

Giving them a printout of what you want, from their own store brand is definitely the way to go.

Never had an issue, and I have spent quite a bit of time offroad and hit some pretty good rocks. Only alignment was when I did the lift. Had my first gen Tacoma for over 120k and never had it aligned either.
