If you get the prem & tech package the TRD Off Road rear bumpers are not chrome, they come painted.

Painted fenders will just get scratched up that much quicker when you off road, hence the tupperware fenders on the TRD OR.

Hood scoop is non-functional...ok maybe it looks cool but it adds no capability to the truck. Actually a few folks have complained the Scoop obscures driver visibility, particularly this could be an issue when encountering obstacles off road. So yeah we're left with "but it looks cool, bro"

Yeah. Good points. The hood scoop is essentially useless and is just there for show. I guess I just regret not getting the tech package so I could of had a painted matching bumper.

If you haven't seen an advantage of a rear locker, you haven't offroaded hard enough ;). They are very useful in some tough situations.

I agree. Super White color looks better with the black fender flares on the off road gives it a nice storm trooper look. On the sport trim it looks to matchy.

The Quicksand, inferno, and black looks better with the black fender flares too.

Blue Blizzard Pearl, Red, and MGM looks better with the color matched fender flares on the sport.

About three colors I prefer with the color matched flares and the others I prefer black flares on the off road.

Could probably get fenders painted for 300 or 400 max

    Have thought about this.

I have considered picking up some take offs from an OR, just to see.

For me the manual removes crawl control, which for my DD I wouldn't want. I don't want to put my DD in those kinds of places.

The brakes are also different between the OR vs. sport.

Ya, the OR has a brake booster, but some don't like the way that feels.

So the TRD OR gives you...

    1. Better brakes via a brake booster
    2. Cooler wheels
    3. Better tires
    4. Better suspension
    5. Rear locker
    6. Crawl control
    7. Multi Terrain select
    8. Skid plates

    TRD sport gives you..

    1. Fake hood scoop
    2. Painted fender flares and front piece
    3. Plastic air dam
    4. 17" wheels.

    Sound right?

I guess if you want the best of both worlds you have to buy a TRD pro that incorporates what people like about the sport and off road in one convenient package.

    Buy the Off-Road.

Only take it "off road" on graded gravel/dirt roads that the average Outback could handle, if at all.

Make a bunch of posts about how it's such a superior off-road vehicle to the useless Sport and it's stupid Skewp.

Start thread asking if anybody is willing to swap their skewped hood for yours plus cash.

Drove both back to back yesterday, sport felt better driving on the road, hit some potholed back roads in both, sport felt a little less compliant maybe?? but not much.

Ride in sport on curvy road felt way better, less roll. I went in wanting an off road and convinced that I would not buy a sport, think
I'm getting a sport. Not planning on off-roading to the extent that will I will need locker.

I've currently driving a 2003 trd, I've never once used the locker in 15 years.

I think a manual OR also has the space, cause you lose crawl

You don't get crawl control with the 6MT Offroad, but you DO get ATRAC, which is pretty awesome.

Wrong and wrong... keep rubicon... try again.. plastic damages less than painted plastic... also looks better with multiple scratches.. hence why off-road vehicles tend to use plastic flares.
