Hi everyone! First post, but don't yet have my Taco as I'm waiting for my '17 Pro to be built. First Tacoma and stoked to get it.

They haven't yet told me if a sunroof is a confirmed option, but my first thought was wondering how durable it would be if the truck was used for mild off-roading. I'd like to have one, but not if it'll end up being a bit of a ticking time bomb.

Have any of you with '16 TRDORs or Sports run into problems with your sunroof when the trail gets rough? Have you heard of anyone with 2nd gen's having issues?

    Thanks!

I took my 200 series Landcruiser through some seriously tough trails at Moab twice with 1000's of hard trail miles and never had a sunroof issue. I have heard some issues with Camaros cracking their sunroofs on hard launches, but that is most likely because of the unibody design. I wouldnt think twice about getting the sunroof if you want it (and if its avail)

I don't think a factory moonroof is an option on 2nd gen.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
Just flop on your roof and it'll be fine.

I was referring to the OP comment/question about anyone having problems with the 2nd gen.

Cool thanks for the feedback everyone (except JeffP213...less than helpful).

Presumably Toyota has durability tested it with the OR model on shaker tables and punishment tracks, but real world tends to expose the true weaknesses. That's really the answer I'm looking for. Not planning on racing baja with it, just general commuting, hauling toys, and the occasional Colorado off into nowhere trail.

Love sunroofs and would prefer to have it, but there's always a trade off.

That said, time will tell if it will even be available.

    :thumbsup:You're welcome!

I'm for real sorry man. Welcome to TacomaWorld!

If you take your new truck off any jumps, then maybe worry about your sunroof, but more importantly, document the jump.

No worries! Thanks and looking forward to joining the Tacoma crowd.

Bummer. I'll have confirmation for the build sheet end of July, but sounds like this decision may end up being made for me by Toyota:burnrubber:.

No sunroof option for the 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro. However, if there were one, you would be fine as far as off roading. Problems occur with faulty seals and prolonged corrosion. Good luck on the Pro, and welcome to the forums!
