I've got a stock '16 TRD OR lookin to get her dirty. A quick google showed some OR parks but a lot of ther website hadn't been updated in years. Any suggestions for a place that's got easy enough trails for a novice and that won't wreck my truck within say 3-4 hours of DFW (closer the better).

The Texas Overland group said that bridgeport themselves doesnt check for them anymore. So the only time you would "need" it would be if a game warden or parks and wildlife officer ran into you out there.

It did very well. I got stuck twice, but I attribute that to driver error. First time I'd ever actually been offroad. I high centered it on my predator steps the first time and then took the wrong line the second. I did manage to pinstripe the passenger side on a low hanging branch, but thats part of it I guess. I'll be installing sliders and some paint protection before I head out there again. But yeah, I just didnt go in areas of which I was uncomfortable trying it. Id reccomend going with someone whos been a few times and knows the area, we accidentally ran into some guys who frequent it so they played guide for the day.

A group is meeting up next weekend at Barnwell Mtn in Gilmer. It will be my first time heading out there, so not sure how a stock truck would fare. I'm looking forward to wheeling with a group that has been out there before. I've got a small lift, but no armor and won't be doing any trails that are too difficult. If I don't feel comfortable, I have no problem turning around to avoid damage to my truck.

After getting harassed on TW for asking about local trails I went down to a huge motorsport place in Weatherford and they told me they were out of them and they have asked the state for more many months ago and haven't heard back. I asked them for advice and they said to just go and wheel.

So I'm pretty confused. Folks on TW are like off road Brown shirts, but the folks who sell the stickers are saying just go.

Everywhere I've lived there have been endless trails you could explore. So I move to the 2nd largest state and you can't do anything without government permission.

I'm not pissed, but surprised. This is Texas.

been using that sticker for years and never got checked for it once, I figure a $16 sticker is cheaper than a fine though

I agree, 16 bucks isnt worth the possible trouble without one
