Going camping with the wife in a few weeks at San Mateo memorial park and was wondering if there were any good back roads or 4x4 trails near that area?

Nope nothing legal. Gazos Creek Road turns to dirt and depending on the gate being open you could get up a little ways near Butano State Park. But between the locals and the rangers its questionable.

    Not an overbrander.
Whitehouse Canyon Road is public dirt until the hiking trailhead.
