Off Roading that allows 4x2 trucks??

    Unfortunately, I own a 4x2 but I still love driving in the mud and dirt. Are there any places I can take my truck that will let me in since I'm not a 4x4? I'm not far from Azusa Canyon but I understand they won't let me in...

    Most of the desert can be driven easily with 2wd and some skinny pedal. As far as trails, hit up the local members. I hardly ever use 4wd. A locker or limited slip helps.

    My sister lives in fontana and brother lives in Yucaipa, they go on fire roads on the back side of big bear and bromont (Beaumont). They all have 2wds.

    I've taken it to El Mirage and Johnson Valley quite a few times and I actually experienced one of those back roads from Big Bear to Apple Valley for the first time last November. Loved it...had some snow and mud. I was hoping to find something closer to me like Azusa Cyn....

    Differential Breather Mod Light Bar: 2 Hella 4000 HID, 1 Kragen HID, 1 Cibie Halogen.
    Anywhere there is a dirt road in Baja California! Most off road racers are 2WD, in fact.

    The biggest help for 2WD is tires and air pressure... bigger tires and lower air pressure! More traction for climbing and flotation in sand be lowering the pressure 1/3 to 1/2 of the street pressure.

    My brother knows a couple places but said not worth the drive from chino, guessing lower mtn, beaumont areas.

    My sister and her bf go dick around in the hills by there house in fontana but I don't think its a huge area either.

    You have the main divide truck trail. Very 4x2 friendly. Killer 360 view in some areas. starts off the 91 and 241 area goes goes into the Ortega hwy. Depends on how fast you drive it is a 2 to 4hr trail

    Hello all!

    First post here, month and a half long lurker.

    I own a 2012 DCSB Pre-Runner TRD Sport.. this trim excludes the locker and other assists.

    Would I be OK to navigate some of the above mentioned "scenic trails?"
    It seems that the general consensus is that 2WD is good to go depending on the trails and not getting carried away and overdoing it. My concern is not having the locker.

    Great forum, dig the pictures! Living in San Diego, former 10 year resident of Phoenix AZ. Former military dependent, stationed in Misawa, Aviano, Lakenheath, and Mt. Home. Other hobbies includes Muay Thai/Boxing and beginner fishing. Apologize in advance if the wrong place to for the intro :wave:

    This sounds like something I would definitely like to do! Your mention of the views is a big plus! Could you be more specific as to how I'd get there. I'm in between the 15 & 71 freeways and the 91 is just slightly south of me.

    You got a factory LSD with the sport. More than capable of doing a lot of trails in socal. You will be surprised with driving experience how well 2wd is. Check out the San Diego BS thread. Those guys go out on runs all the time. My best advise is go out on a meet. They are going to be in Ocotillo Wells this weekend.

    Well sorry to burst your bubble, but main divide is currently closed. You always need to check the status of that trail.

    I usually do bee canyon truck trail which is very much the same but never closed. This is roughly the area mercurymullet is talking about. It is about a 45 minute drive to get to the base of that trail located in Hemet and climbs up Idyllwild. There are a few other trails near bee canyon that I have not done yet which are also very much the same.

    Here a track that starts right off the 15 and weirick road. Its Bedford Trail and it runs up to Main Divide north. This track also shows Maple Truck Trail that exits into Silverado canyon on the Orange county side.
