    Right but that is an isolated instance that can utilize a singular formula. Just like calculating the force inside the tire from psi. You aren't adding in a balloon to the calculation like we are with tires.

    Let me break it down simpler.

    P = F / A
    A man who weighs 200 pounds with a shoe size of 24 square inches = 8.3 pressure to ground not internal tire

    A man who weighs 200 pounds on stilts with an area of 4 square inches is = 50 pressure to ground

    The second man has a smaller contact patch and applies greater force to the given area he is standing.

    With our trucks we don't know A or P. Because A has not been measured and we dont know P because we need A to divide from F.

    The point im trying to get across is P is not tire pressure, the internal tire pressure is different than external ground pressure

    The point I'm making is that tire pressure is the P.

    Well that is where we agree to disagree and the conversation ends.

    That second pic is pretty similar to some of the roads I've been on. Basically, they have A LOT of rocks but they aren't overly huge rocks. Occasionally one is too big and I can usually go around it. Stock height, however, is low enough that I've come down on the frame a few times. Skids sound like a good idea as well as 2".

    You gave me an idea Joe. I'll try the old Army method and let you know.

    http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a102702.pdf

    So i just drew a perimeter around my front tire and its a slightly bigger because i couldnt get my pen all the way in but comes out to 8.5" wide by 10" Long which is

    85 square inches.

    So 1400 pounds / 85 inches equals 16 psi, but my tires are at 29 psi..factory but are currently 32

    I did read that but its still not accurate,

    So I just drew a ling around my tires and measured and I just went out and inked them.

    I'm waiting for the ink to dry but early measurement shows 59.5 square inches EDIT: Ink dried to 56, 8 inches wide 7 inches long

    P = F/A

    So 1400/56 = 25 psi ground pressure.

    My tire pressure is currently 32 psi

    EDIT: I'm inking the passenger front now.

    Inked and came it at 25.9 psi and 54 square inches with a 32psi tire

    But we can see Tire pressure cannot be used.

    At 32 psi on a 12.5 wide tire there is nothing leading me to believe that the contact patch would be smaller. It would likely be 10.5" x 7" or 70.5 inches with a reduced ground pressure of 19.8psi

    Yep, I offload my DD just not like I use too. I am very cautious and only do trails I know I can handle without giving it the onion.

    I did Elephant hill in my DD and it handled everything very well. I only got stuck once because I was worrying about the major hill obstacle and not on my current obstacle.

    That along with at least skids is where I'm more or less landing with possibly new springs.

    if u have the OR Model u should have adequate skid armor for occasional offroading, adding more increases the weight which decreases the MPGs on ur DD commuter driving

    Did you really do this all because of an internet argument?

    I recommend that you look into getting new, bigger tires. You'll gain a little bit of clearance this way and have better performance off road.

    If you want to lift it, you can get 5100s as others have mentioned. I would recommend doing 885 coils or 887 coils depending how much you want to lift. In the rear, get a block or AAL to keep it level.

    I got sliders on my truck, with no under armor yet as I haven't felt the need for it.

    For reference, here is my truck on 5100s (all 4 corners) with 885 coils and a 1" block in the rear. Tires are 265/70/17.

    I did it for a learning experience. I actually learned a ton and know my contact patch.

    At the end of the day wider tire offers a larger contact patch with reduced overall ground pressure.
