I take my mutt with me when I go. She loves riding in the truck. We have done long road trips with 12 hour days on the road and she is fine.

She tossed her cookies one time and it was heading to a trailhead through a very windy-but paved section of the CA hillside. To her credit both my passengers weren't feeling great by the time we arrived either. I guess I was driving the truck like my old Subaru Sti.

In general, if they aren't used to it or well trained it can end up messy!

nice pics guys. my poor dog can't handle the rocking side to side motion. she poop'd all over my friends back seats in his pathfinder. we were taking it real easy for her to try and enjoy the ride but uhhhh... no. we ended up covering that up with a lot of dirt and leaves after she had already tracked it around a little. needless to say we turned around and brought her home. i'm glad i didn't find out the hard way in my truck!!

Sandy's been sittin on two 12's for like 10 years...she likes to see what's going on and smell the air rushing in the back window. I box her in while wheeling with blankets and pillows and she does alright.

I had the same problem when I took my 5 month old Irish setter through some trails yesterday. He puked once on my passenger seat and then a second time in the bed. I felt kinda bad the second time because I didn't notice it for a while so he ended having to lay it. lol

I think that I will for sure try it again with him though

This thread is awesome. I hope when I get a dog that it will be able to handle truck rides.

Our Lab lives for the back of the truck. If we go anywhere near the truck or open the tailgate, he is right there. You can't leave him at home. I went to my friends house once and was there for a few hours. Sure enough when I came out he was still there. When we're wheeling in the woods though he hops out and trots ahead of the truck by about 20 feet.
