I was under the impression that it would be loud, but driveable to the shop. Is it not?

Hey if insurance covers it, why not. If I remember correctly, insurance covered everything.

I heard the CIA is recruiting low level thieves to commit catalytic converter thefts nationwide to help drive the push to eliminate gas powered vehicles and convince people to go electric.

seriously though, it’s even happening up here in Alaska, some dude in a clapped out 90s Ford Explorer was rolling around here with sawzall and stealing them from jacked up trucks

    Sorry about your loss.
I wish the material inside needed a license or something to sell the material.

Damn… I feel like if someone had time to cut that pipe, at a park and ride, they would figure out a way to get a cat protector off. Makes me want a cat protector though.

if they towed your Taco like that without putting the front tires on tire dollys, they may have done damage to the drivetrain, the manual says the following:
"4WD models: Be sure to transport the
vehicle with all four wheels raised off the
ground. If the vehicle is towed with the
tires contacting the ground, the drivetrain
or related parts may be damaged, the
vehicle may fly off the truck".

    Nope.
The front end is rolling just like it would be any other time on the road in 2WD.
    Nothing is being compromised.

I am glad to hear that this is covered by your insurance.

Here in Colorado one of my neighbors had their catalytic convertor stolen in a Home Depot parking lot when they went into the store. From what the police told him it only takes a couple of minutes to steal them with a saws-all. Higher clearance SUVs and Trucks make it very easy for thieves to crawl under the vehicle and get out quickly.

That's brazen, at least out here our Home Depot parking lot is usually packed no matter what time of day that they're open. Unless maybe you park way off in the back of the store or something. But then again, most onlookers today would rather pretend not to see something than do something about it

I got some sort of shield put on my catalytic converter today installed by toyota. Looks like some wire like rope things like a spider web. Hope I don't get hit now.
