I love my 2013. No more 4.0's in the foreseeable future. I would only consider trading in my 2013 several years from now if a 4.x L or a mythic diesel came out.

Gotta love dealer sales tricks. My dad got a call the other day from a local Ford dealership and the sales rep told him that he could get him into a brand new 2016 F-150 for the same or less than what he is paying now for his 2013. My pops lead him on a bit and said that he didn't think that was possible. The rep was overly confident and said that he was sure he could work out a deal. After the sales rep reassured him one more time, my dad said "Great, I'll see you in 30 min... by the way, my truck is paid off so thank you for giving me a free new F-150." The sales rep had to feel like a chump at that point. He started back tracking and said that he was sorry as he must have dialed the wrong customer...

FWIW, this sales technique is how I got my truck. The previous owner, who it turns out I tangentially knew through a mutual friend, kept getting the calls and eventually got the deal he wanted to trade in his 2008 for a new 2015. It was low miles (42K when I bought it) and I got a reasonable deal.

So everyone in chain was basically satisfied. Ideally it would have been nice to skip the dealer but he wasn't actively selling or advertising it. The 1st owner moved up, the dealer made a few bucks and I got the low mile, 6-speed TRD OR that I wanted (the relatively rarity and high demand for stick shift TRD Access Cabs meant dealers pestered the guy a lot).

No one really got screwed on the sale AFAIK. Not sure what kind of deal the guy got on a new truck, but I paid just a bit over a typical Craigslist price but got a CPO warranty in the deal. Now after the fact I had to deal with Toyota making good on the 12 month so-called bumper-to-bumper Certified Pre-owned warranty not really being bumper-to-bumper. They tried to weasel out of everything being "normal" wear or whatever. But I got them to fix a few nagging used car things anyway, which would have been out of pocket in a private sale, so that's something.

ETA: BTW, I 100% agree with everyone on here, don't sell unless you have some reason. No one is better off by trading or selling a paid-off truck.
