Nope, no spacers. Got pro comp 69 rims 15’ with 3.75 backspace. No idea why i have so much poke

The fabtech spindles said maximum backspace of 3.75. I am slightly confused. This means dont go over 3.75 right? As in 3.75 is the deepest. 4 too much and anything less than 3.75 is good?

only reason i got these rims is fb marketplace had a set of 4 for 150$

Haha, same. I got the 4 wheels and tires used on CL for $150.

I guess I'm not sure about the poke either, something with the offset(which I am no expert on). Either way, your truck looks great!

    No, UCAs are not required.

That said I am in the market for some because mine are in bad shape. Anybody know a good set? I'd like to go aftermarket upgrade rather than OE style replacements.

Yes. More backspacing brings the rim edge and tire closer to the truck. Fabtech spindles move the hub center downward so the rim no longer fits over upper balljoint area. They spec less backspacing to keep the rim from hitting it. It might be in this thread somewhere where someone posted a pic showing 4" BS wheels still having decent clearance. I have the pic, but not where it came from.

So is it minimum 3 3/4 or max? As far as backspacing goes 4 would push the tires further away from the suspension bits? 4 would have more tire poke than 3 3/4?

i saw the 4 in BS guy. Thats why im confused if it said 3 3/4 max.

3.75" is the max that Fabtech recommends. More than that will reduce clearance between the rim/tire and (Fabtech) spindle. Obviously 4" will fit, but they're also covering themselves to ensure that more installations are successful and don't result in returns or support calls.

No. Backspacing is measured from the hub mating surface to the back of the rim, hence the name.

That clears it up. Quite a confusing measurement. :bananadead:

My old cheapie tires were nearly bald, one of them picked up a nail last week, and there's a storm coming in tomorrow so I put the new shoes on with no lift for the time being.

Hey friends! I got locked out of my account. Long time no see!

Lots of questions to answer. :)

Keep in mind that backspacing is affected by wheel width. For instance, If you compare wheels at 15x8" with +0 offset or 4.0" backspacing to a 15x7.5" wheel with +0 offset and 3.75" backspacing, they both have the same offset (none dead center), but yet the backspacing is different because the wheel width is different. On the backspacing topic for spindle lifts on our trucks... you can always go less and push your wheels out further. You probably do need less backspacing than recommended with wider wheels/tires than recommended. I wouldn't go more than recommended, though, without measuring first. There are other factors that come into play that I am not mentioning, but if you just look at wheel size and offset compared to what is recommended this holds true.

That's what less backspacing would do.

Youre right.. had it backwards in my head. I'll edit my post. It helps to visualize if you think about how it's actually measured. Less backspace (lower number) means more "front space" or wheels pushed out further is how I visualized it.

Has anyone else done the Fabtech spindle lift and found that your front tires stick out a bit wider than the rears now?

    Did I do something wrong?

if not, any rear spacer suggestions to square everything up?

I also asked the folks at TrailBuilt, we’ll see what they say.

Don't think so, they widen track width by 3-3.5 inches ( not sure exactly). I would measure the track width difference and divide by 2 to get your wheel spacer width. It doesn't bother me too much, though. It took some getting used to, but I actually get a lot of positive comments about it.

Okay cool! Thanks for the advice.

Another question, do you think I can get another inch or so by adding in the fat bobs spacer and Fabtech shackles?

    has anyone done both?

Any other way to get another inch or so?
