That's what I figured as well. I'll be buying the full rear from a part out/junkyard, and taking it to someone to install likely. I'm sure it isn't too hard to complete but I live in an apartment with no garage so I'm limited with work. Still have a lot of tread on the tires and a ways to go, but glad to hear the idea of a 6 lug rear end w/ e locker is feasible

cool good move, you can get one with 4.10 from a tacoma. I think if you wanted to go 4.30 the 4runners have the center locking diff with 4.10 and 4.30 but the housing wouldn't work just the center diff.

anyone interested in my old fabtech add a leaf? I think they add like 1.5-2" in the rear, I removed them 2 weeks ago.

I'll prolly chill with the 4:10 for now unless I can find someone still making reinforced LBJ brackets. I heard people had issues with them snapping when they went bigger tires. Wish I could do the jump to 33's, but those people make me worry saying that. you end up changing your add a leaf to shackles?

I have 31" and rub while i turn the steering to go up a incline. I think with a 2" body lift then maybe, but that would be with the lift spindles and fabtech uca

With 33" you'll need a lift spindle n trim your fenders or go fiberglass, and pinch weld mod is a must.
    Stay away from body lifts.

But, with your experience, would 33's be okay on stock LBJ's? have people overhyped them not being strong enough?

I have not broken the bracket. But I couldn't fit a 33" with stock arms. Even with fabtech spindles, uppers, coils, fiberglass n pinch weld mod it rubbed too much when I cranked the steering all the way.

HMM maybe people were beating up too much on their mini taco's then. Glad to hear there's not too much worry then, bc I'm sure you mobbed ur 5 lug harder than I will and had no issues. I probs wont go above 32's or like a 265/75/16.

    P.S.
When I replace my lbj's, would u say moog isn't that bad for our 5 lugs? seems everyone on the 1st gen forum is oem or bust, but some on here had good results with moog.

I used their ball joints with no complains. Control arms Idk. I know they make coils for 1st gen 5 lugs that are a bit stiffer to level out the front. I saw 1 guy tgat had am n loved it

thanks for your response, guess moog will be the route I go with the LBJ's. And yeah v6 coils are what I plan on getting for my truck soon, was gonna stack the daystar spacer with it for now; unless I find a cheap set of used fabtech/doestch spindles. no idea where to look, never see em on the TW marketplace

Got it. I'm surprised Koni doesn't have something for this vehicle. I know people that can get them made and help select the right valving. I feel like the fronts should be simple enough to get done with single adjustable Koni yellows and get an added 2" or so of travel with same compressed length.

The prerunner coils are not an exact fit n if i we're to do it again I would get moog 5 lug coils just cuz they are exact fit n they have several options.

If your looking spindles I'd just buy new. Like around $300. If you get a used 1 you dont know if it abused, N it's cast. And if you get it new you'll have it right away instead of waiting n hoping to find one on Craigslist

Lol yes the moog coils are what im referring to. They are for the 5 lug v6 model which is why it lifts our 2.4l 5 lugs to level. Unless there's other moog coils besides the 81070 model that level/lift the front?

I Won't look used for the spindles then, that is a good point thank you

Anyone ever swap to a 6-lug hub? Really like the 5-star wheels on 3rd Gen T4R Limiteds and would like to see what all is involved in putting some on my '99.

Idk if it's possible. I only know 4x4 pick up spindles allow for 6 lug

more pain than it's worth most likely. 5x114 has a lot of options out there. just a lot less gaudy fake 3pc and fake bead-locker styles
