So how hilarious and amazing would it be for Miami to beat ND soundly, jump either TCU or jokelahomo, and then top 4 next week is UGA, Bama, Clemson, Miami

Obviously If ND loses to Miami, Oklahoma or TCU will move up but I think it'd be great if the top 4, even if only for a week, was comprised solely of ACC/SEC schools

I agree. I’m sorry, but I don’t want to see a big12 team go into the playoff and play zero defense. The B1G is pretty much out of it.

The last 2 years of Bama and Clemson have set a high standard of southeast football versus the rest of the country

    2015
    Alabama 38
    Mich St 0

    Clemson 37
    Oklahoma 17

    2016
    Clemson 31
    Ohio St 0

    Alabama 24
    Washington 7

We all know how both the previous 2 championships went with Bama and Clemson splitting the pair of them in easily a pair of the best NC games ever

Oddly, 2014 was the opposite with Oregon and Ohio St beating FSU and Bama

The saying “defense wins championships” is still around because...well...it’s true.

@dwalden2 that's hard to argue against. Saban only won national championships at LSU & Alabama, never at any other college. Most coaches could win 10+ games a year with the Bama players...all 5 stars.

@stronghammer send us a few players to MSU this weekend, y'all played alabama tough. This will be another game like Georgia, blow out 1st quarter. The smurfs will look like mini-smurfs this Saturday.

We haven't beat Alabama since they were "Croomed"! Average winning once every 20+ years...

The reason I was so matter of fact, is if you look at the statistics of beating a team twice in the same season, its damn near impossible. Also, if we were talking about say, Troy. Would Troy be able to beat both Alabama AND UGA? Add in the "big let down" after big wins, and it truly is almost an impossible task. Plus, UGA would have the chance to truly prepare for Auburn if they come off with a win vs. Alabama. Kirby aint no joke.

    Can it happen? Sure.

    Is it PROBABLE. No.

Do teams overcome probability? Sure. Just look at Troy, and Mercer (almost).

I agree with you that it's damn near impossible, know all too well with playing a team twice in a year. But like you said it's probable, teams beat the statistic all the time. I just notice the matter of factly attitude more so out of the alabama fans I'm around, which is why I choose who I discuss football with more carefully just to not get annoyed lol. Yes yes I know all teams have those fans, but I live in the state of alabama with bama and auburn fans and I can attest that the bama fans are worse to deal with. Just personal experience. I just never understood the boast of confidence in knowledge of something that just isn't concretely predictable lol. I do appreciate your response and you not getting mad at me haha, I meant no harm with any of it.

I think it is simply a confidence in the abilities of the players on the Alabama roster, and the confidence in Saban's ability to prepare properly for almost any team.

Almost a "speak into existence" type of talk.

The absolute worst fans are Ohio State fans. Their confidence borders conceit, and it is completely unwarranted. At least Bama fans have multiple natty's to back it up....lol.

lol I agree there is stuff to back it up, but I was originally meaning in subjects that aren't even Alabama. like any ol' team you discuss they just KNOW what the outcome will be or what that team is capable of. it just amazes me haha.

I agree also about Ohio State fans, the few I've seen on forums and such are unbearable. I have one great friend that is an OSU fan and he's fine, but aside from him I don't know a great one lol.

I'll even go out to say I hated the LSU fans I was around when I went to a game at Jordan Hare. They were just obnoxious on a level I didn't understand just to each other. Now when I went down to Baton Rouge they were great, so it had to have had something to do with being the visitor.

Alabama has a plethora of bandwagon fans....who are complete fucking idiots when it comes to football. I would venture to say, more than any other team simply due to success. And at this point in time, they probably have more haters than any other team. Those two combined make for a very interesting state of valid conversation about football.

Colin Cowherd stated that Alabama has the weakest schedule of any top 5 team. His cohort went on to say that Bama and Wisconsin should be ranked similarly in the bottom of the top ten as they both have weak schedules. Here is where the dumb crept in. He then goes on to say that Wisconsin shouldnt be punished because they scheduled their games years in advance, and couldnt know that teams wouldnt be good or not.

Now, did Alabama not just dismantle a #3 FSU in the first game, on a neutral site? Is it Alabama's fault that FSU crumbled. (Well, actually, yeah it kinda is, because they injured Francois....but...)

I understand the success fatigue surrounding Bama. I had the same feelings toward USC. My only complaint then was that everything on ESPN was about USC. USC, USC, USC, MLB, NBA, NFL, USC, USC, USC, Tennis, USC, USC, USC.

That's not the case anymore. They don't fixate on the top team with 10-15 minutes of stats and dialogue and then mention the other top 10 teams in a 2 minute span. They dissect stats on a LOT of teams....

So like @stronghammer said Alabama fans always act like their always right and in everything they say without actually looking at the statistics.

wait, are you saying that because he is an Alabama fan and he appears to be correct? (and now did I just become a cliché by implying that may assumption my be right?) the never end cycle never ends :annoyed:

There have been 24 teams meet in the regular season and then meet again in the Conference Championship. Teams that won the regular season games are 15-9 in the rematch....Meaning statistics show it is not "nearly impossible" but mostly probable.

I wouldn't say always, but in my experiences it's more often true than not.

I had a guy dog cuss me one time in the gym (devout Alabama fan, not a bandwagoner) when I was discussing the championship game between Georgia and Alabama and I simply said (not to this guy either) "Georgia has a good chance of upset with their passing game since that is typically Alabama's weakness" and he came charging out of nowhere trying to lay statistics on me that their QB sucks and he had thrown like 5 interceptions the previous week and all this stuff so I pulled out my phone and looked up the statistics that I was saying and showed them to him and his final comment was just "well whatever Alabama will still beat the hell out of 'em" or something along those lines. He then proceeded to tell everyone in the gym over the next few weeks I was an obnoxious LSU fan. I had like the gym workers and other members coming to me like "you're our favorite fan to discuss ball with, ignore that guy" hahaha.
