FSU has way more problems than just their QB. So if FSU beat bama, bama would have a loss to a very crappy team.

 

True, but you see where I was heading w/ all that. You plan these a long way out thinking the other team is solid and you'll have a "quality win" and then they fall apart. You can't control that so all you can do is win every game you can.

I understand Bama is and should be outside looking in... you win, you're in.

But, the "quality" win or loss junk gets me sometimes.

I mean, really... Bama was playing a #6 team... at their place... who just happens to be their worst enemy. I mean, that's not exactly a tough place for Auburn to be in. They stepped up and out-played Bama that night.

 

So youre saying UCF should get in because they are undefeated?

 

Not really... and that's why I said earlier that these arguments can get turned against you quickly. For the record, I'm not going to love it if Wisconsin makes it either, but they would have run the schedule and beat a decent (if JT Barrett plays) OSU team, so I would concede that to them.

Saying "you win, you're in" makes it easy for the team and puts all the stress on the folks voting. It's easier to argue for Bama if they had won out.

 

You have to look at quality wins, other wise UCF would be in the playoffs, that is the whole reason we have the playoff committee.

If Ohio state beats 1 top 10 team, 1 top 5 team and has a loss to a top 2 team and a one bad loss is that not more impressive than a Alabama team that did not beat anyone except a #19 LSU? I mean it sucks for Alabama to be in that position but at the end they did it to themselves by losing(I know you arnt arguing that). I think it also would have to do with the "eye test" part. Alabama may only have 1 loss but they barley got bye against a bad Texas A&M team and a bad Miss State team. IF Alabama blew those teams out It think it would help them a lot. But having a crappy schedule then barley win a couple and then lose one doesnt look good.

And I am not rooting for Alabama to not get in the playoffs, I would much rather play Alabama again then play Oklahoma. I would rather have Miami, Wisconsin and Alabama in the playoffs.

They’re talking to like 6 people. I wouldn’t be too concerned until the university and the coach BOTH sign the dotted line.

 

Not sure if it would help or hurt. They are not supposed to discuss their own teams.
If they can't be there to discuss, that is at least one less person to vote ?

 

Bama didn't really kick LSU back down just sayin. LSU moved back into the ranking after beating auburn but never moved up far. Only dropped like 4 spots from bama. Wouldn't call that a "kick back down". Losing to troy looks awful. But other than auburn, LSU has no quality win on the schedule. Not sure why they are ranked honestly lol

I think Alabama should be ranked 7.

But as it currently stands, I think Alabama gets in if Oklahoma loses*.
If Clemson loses*: Auburn, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Miami
If Auburn loses*: Clemson, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Georgia
If Wisconsin loses*, any of the next 4 could be in depending on how 6,7 or 8 play in their conference championship game.

FWIW... Record vs currently ranked top-25 teams...

1. Clemson 3-0 (w/ a loss to unranked Syracuse)
2. auburn 3-2
3. Oklahoma 3-0 (w/ a loss to unranked Iowa State)
4. Wisconsin 1-0
5. Alabama 3-1
6. Georgia 2-1
7. Miami 2-0 (w/ a loss to unranked Pitt)
8. Ohio State 2-1 (plus a loss to unranked Iowa)

No sense in going further... I don't see Penn State, TCU, USC moving up...

When you look at those numbers, Alabama doesn't look quite as bad as when we looked at just Top-10 before.

The committee is going to do what the committee is going to do... but I like that tOSU is down at 8. I still wouldn't bet on Alabama staying ahead of them if they beat Wisconsin, but I feel a little better about the possibility now than I would if they were at 6.

If they beat Wisconsin, they'd move to 3-1 vs top 25 teams, the same as Alabama.. on the one hand they'd have a conference title (which should mean something), but on the other they have a couple of bad losses, including one blowout loss to an unranked team.

Keeping hope alive... At least until Wisconsin and Oklahoma both win and the dream dies!

 

Also, shout-out to the SEC for having half of the top 6 teams. The top of the conference is still really great, even if the middle has fallen off a bit.

 

Guess just to justify the loss. Last year saban said and "quote. If you don't win the the conference championship u shouldn't get in. Well well well. Where does saban stand now? He sure the hell ain't gonna win the SEC championship now. But now he wants his BOYS to get a chance to.play in the playoff. Hmmm. How the TIDE is changing. He's an ASS!!

 

lol... he's just politicking like everyone else does. He has to... but, you are right... he's an ass. A successful and high paid ass.

I've heard a lot of very successful folks were complete pricks, but I guess that could just all be opinion.
