nope, just arguing that Alabama and it's fans cannot factually claim they caused a coach to get fired. I can't think of a one that it was just Alabama or Saban causing it at all, or even them being the largest reason.

 

I would guess there are a few former Auburn coaches that would have a differing opinion...

I can think of one that it possibly saved... and would wager a few of those lost may not have been lost had they beaten Alabama so basically camels backs were broken and stuff

I would say that if A&M beat a #1 Alabama this year they would still have the same coach, I would say Arkansas would have been thrilled if they beat a #1 bama enough to keep him around, MS st is a 50/50 in my book, Gus is still around and not on his way to Arkansas because they beat a #1 bama. Had FSU beat us and not lost their "mvp" qb in the process I bet jimbo would still be there next year, but that has 2 variables in it so I'm only gonna give us half credit for that, but then I'm gonna round up haha. the only one that it may have not saved would have been UT and even then as long as it took them to get him out, that may have been enough to keep him around.

 

Kevin Sumlin has lost 5 games every year since 2014, it's been a ticking time bomb for them to get rid of him. Losing to Alabama this year doesn't change that. Say they beat bama but lose to another, bet he still gets fired.

Bret Beliema went 1-7 in the SEC this year, 3-5 previous year. Doubt they kept him around especially with firing AD. Again, Alabama had nothing to do with that.

Mississippi State didn't fire their coach.

Gus Malzahn won the SEC West. Yes, that included beating Alabama, but that's not the only game that decided that. Beating A&M/MSU/Ole Miss/Arkansas also gave him the SEC West victory.

The argument about FSU losing their QB absolutely being the reason they suck this year is bogus. If Jimbo Fisher would've recruited/coached better the team around the QB would've picked up the slack. Many flaws this year for them.

Butch Jones was fired because he lost every most recent game to each SEC team he played. His records have been terrible. He has made no progression at UT.



Take away the Alabama losses, make them wins for each of those teams, but give them a loss to another team instead and all those coaches are still gone.

 

Les Miles won 75% of his games....but couldn't beat Saban.

No longer there....

 

Les Miles lost 3 games minimum a year from 2012-2016. His offenses he promised to change, never changed. Alabama was not the cause of all 3 losses, nor the lethargic offenses that got him fired.

Also, his final game coached was a loss to Auburn.

 

Urban Meyer claimed heart failure and familial issues, however was at OSU within what, 2 years? Of course, he also grieved heavily the loss of Tim Tebow and avoided any connection with Hernandez...so...who knows on that one.

I didnt say that at all. I stated what Meyer claimed as reasons to leave....

Then I stated other tangible reasons, commonly known.

If you asserted that Alabama was linked, that'd be your own paradigm.

 

Obviously, you have your mind set. I think that most of what we are saying is that the loss to Alabama played a part in some coaches, at some point in the last 10 years or so, getting fired.

There was an old saying my ex-father-in-law said... "we don't care what our record is, just beat Auburn". That is where my statement came from... I am guessing some old fans of Auburn feel the same way.

 

you inserted it into the conversation regarding coaches being removed with influence by Alabama/Saban. The implication was there.

 

However, you know as well as I do that if there were a coach that had Saban's number in the SEC, he'd still be there at that school.
