I would join but I prefer Saturday's as Sunday's are normally busy and I like to make it to bed early as I am normally up by 3-4am

where are you hiking tomorrow. if its up ice house are you back country boarding? I hope you have the right gear for that. With mudslides and avalanches and the weather lately it dosnt seem like a time for that.

About 16 miles up ice house, there's a turnout for a campground on the right (right after the second bridge if you're coming from 50). Well be attempting to make it to Bassi Lake Falls from there. And no boarding or snow shoeing, just attempting to hike. We did it a few times last year. If the snows too thick well probably just hang out and let the dogs play around. If the weathers nasty, well turn around.

Every time I have gone up there (which is like 5 times now, lol) we have never gotten back as planned. The fun stuff is at least 8 miles into the trail. Add weather and traffic, be prepared to be late.

This seems to be a given with almost any snow wheeling trip lol which is why I like to shoot for Saturday's.

When running a trail in summer you can gauge time unless you have a mechanical

When running a trail in the winter you can't gauge crap lol

Before that big ass tree to the right fell down?

And I love winter so the area is really nice regardless of the season. Except for the Satan months of summer when there's not even water flowing

Right on buddy, I live in SD now but am from central cal. I've never really explored anza borrego into much detail. I usually take the truck or dirt bike out past Anza Borrego to ocotillo. Tons of dirt to explore out here. Let me know when you come down again if you decide to. I'm always heading up north and going back and forth. Who cares if you are new to 4x4.., gotta start somewhere!

No worries at all Don, there's never pressure. Hope your weekend goes well and we'll hopefully see wheel together next time. A buddy says he had lots of places to take me, and hopefully I can share something new with you guys

Ended up at boca lake lots of snow and wheeling we headed as far up as we could to Verdi peak then turned around and came back down. Really fun day with great conditions. Was actually able to stay on top of the snow for the most part

    Annual Taco Pilgrimage -
I'm heading to Baja this year from November 10th and returning to the bay area November 26th to eat tacos and drink beer if anyone is interested. Two other guys I go with will be on motos so motos are welcome. However there are some extra rules that apply to the motos.

This will be my third and longest trip down there. It will also most likely be my last trip for awhile. I want to go to other places.

It's super fun. We eat shit loads of tacos and drink beer. We mostly camp. Although we'll stay in a hotel or at a ranch here and there...it's so cheap, why not? We eat a shit load of tacos and drink a lot of beer. We're going to watch the 50th running of the Baja 1000, eat shit loads of tacos and drink beer. Maybe do some surfing, eat tacos and drink beer, hang out on the beach, maybe some snorkeling.
Did I mention the tacos are really good?
