So after reading the 2016 wheeling thread I noticed there were some La Grange runs?

Anyone interested in another day trip?

I wheel there a few times a year and it'd be fun to meet up.

Otherwise I'm planning on some wheeling once the 108 pass opens and the snow melts. I'm thinking East side if it's not too hot by then.

I'm also up for Niagara Rim once that thaws out as well. Might be a good substitute for slick rock if it doesn't open this summer.

I'm still waiting to get the scope on Deer Valley after they clear hwy 4.

Need the snow to melt so maintenance can be done as it's going to require quite a bit being how it's been down for a few years

Hopefully not too much maintenance. Still want it to be fun.

Not paved like what they're trying to do to the Rubicon...

Just enough to protect water courses but leave the rocks and ruts.

Anybody been up to Bowman lake this year yet? I haven't been ever but the route is pretty clear. I just don't know the elevation and if there's still any snow on the ground or roads still impassible.

There's a notice posted on the USFS website right now showing Bowman Road is closed from Highway 20 to Meadow Lakes Rd (Right around Bowman Lake). Technically you could access it from Jackson Meadows but I'm pretty sure its still covered in snow right now and/or really rutted out...

I went camping up there a few times last year (late summer) and had an epic time! So many lakes and random forest roads to explore... but the damn bees were seriously EVERYWHERE last summer and i expect the same this summer.

Word man good looking out. I found that same info on bowman road on the TNF website after posting here. I look forward to seeing the area later in the year, shame I can't take the wife next weekend though! We needed the snow though, so I'll keep my griping to a minimum.

They say it's closed due to road damage. About 5500-5800 elevation about that area.

Was thinking on trying up there this weekend for some fishing since Downieville rivers are raging now.

Can post my report if I go in that area, when I get back.

Skeeters are going to be bad this spring too... really bad.

I live in the Sierra foothills and as soon as the sun starts going down they come out in swarms.

Also should be noted the road from Washington to bowman is also out I think the only way in currently is from Jackson meadows I'll be exploring as soon as the snow melts currently the snow drifts on the northern slopes are still too deep and far

I think it's shortly after you cross the river on the exposed edge heading up to the first lake

    But that's purely speculative

Right in this area on the map. only reason I speculate here is the area was closed even to snow machines this winter and once you get past the exposed edge a snow machine could get around any road failure easily
