If you guys do Barrett Lake i'll be really interested to hear how it goes. Without realizing what we were doing a group of friends and I hiked that in '96, on our way in to back pack across Desolation. Saw a string of jeeps piled up with the guy in front broken down, somehow hoping to rebuild a hub on the trail. For as difficult as they say the trail is, I do remember seeing a fairly stock Wagoneer at the lake. Not sure how it got there!

The gate is 82" (i'll fit!) and it sounds like it'll be closed until late Aug...

since the 90s they have rebuilt that trail. although it still looks hard. hopefully all the hard work they put in wasn't undone by the storms. as for jeep hubs i saw a guy break one in a ditch by uncle toms in 18" of snow. he tried to hammer down and failed.

    (Cross posted)

I found a lot of snow up in the downieville/sierra buttes area...

Posted a little write up of our weekend drive.

Anybody know if you can drive north from Snake Lake on 11E67 past Hawley Lake to 11M01 and then 23N08 to connect with 507? Imagining that would be a killer route from Downieville. My map shows it connects, and it is the same trail designation as the Snake Lake/Litter Deer Lake loop, but the North Yuba MVUM shows some private property smack in the middle of it. 11E67.

Do you guys think a lot of snow will be melted by this weekend up at Gold Lake? I know all this heat should impact the snow pretty good.

Most of the snow should be gone. I wouldn't mind heading up there and checking it out.

I'm going to be heading up North to scout out some locations for the eclipse, I'll probably stop in Black Rock for one night on my way up. Anyone know some good spots out there that aren't too hard to get to? Otherwise I was just going to camp on the playa.

Maita Toyota? Like the one on Auburn? The one that I was bringing my truck to when I had an aftermarket warranty? Love Lee man, from the customer's perspective, the guy is a fantastic writer. I was really sorry to hear about his mom....

Do me a favor please? Pass on that I said hi and hope everything's goin good. I stopped in a couple weeks ago to get a part but he was busy getting stuff handled there and I really didn't get to give him my regards.

I didnt realize he was the foreman at the time but I like Bruce too. Nice guy. Everyone there really helped me get the most out of my aftermarket warranty IYKWIM
