I don't feel that way. I'm sure he has hopes and dreams to play at the next level. Look at Hurts- I don't think he has a chance to play at next level now. Transferring and playing somewhere else next year, and having success, will salvage his chance.

I don't understand why folks look down on transfers like him. Bryant was recruited to come in and be the guy behind Watson. He waited his turn, he did his job, he won for them. So Dabo recruits behind him but doesn't make the next guy wait because Dabo has to make the best team decision. So why is Bryant looked down upon, if the commitment he made to Clemson isn't being upheld by Clemson any longer, and he decides to transfer? To make an NFL career you need playing time. You need time for the scouts to see you, especially at the QB position. Same goes for Hurts, if he had decided to transfer.

These are kids trying to get a future, and folks are going to cry and call them quitters because they are making a strategic movement for that? Asinine.

You like to use that word.

The man has no willpower. Win your job back. Compete.

I do like to use that word lol.

Sometimes it's not possible to win your job back. I can tell you right now, in the NFL it's not about winning your job back. You get put 2nd in line you often just get traded. Bryant has an NFL future ahead of him.

The whole "I'm taking my hall and going home" mentality is where I see the transfer thing going. I whole hearted believe Bryant is a good kid and feels he deserves to be the starter and quite frankly he isn't wrong. I don't feel like he has done anything to no earn the job. The Hurts/Tua scenario is a bit different but similar in ways. I just wish these kids would develop some sort of fight in them instead of just leaving. If someone is better than you, work harder than them and beat them. I understand some situations this is an impossible task, but the "I deserve to be this and that" mentality has to stop. The only thing these kids deserve is what they work their asses off for and EARN!

I do believe that spring and fall camps and then also the first games are where they try to beat out the other guy. When it's unsuccessful and they decide to transfer, why then do you say they didn't work for it or try? Should they just keep practicing and possibly staying in 2nd place and never seeing valuable game time and possibly toss away their future?

Perfect example is Danny Etling. He lost the starting job at Purdue, transferred to LSU to get valuable snaps and play time and got drafted by the New England Patriots. Would that have happened sitting behind whoever at Purdue? Probably not.

It should be noted that Swinney said he would still play, just not the first guy on the field. He pretty much said the same, earn the position day in and day out.

other than the starting QB getting hurt, name a QB that got supplanted as starter that eventually got the starting job back.

or name a 2nd string QB that didn't finish his college career as a starter that made it big in the NFL.

Could you imagine lining up against Grady Jarrett, Vic Beasley and Robert Nkemdiche at the same time? wtf

Yeah... If you're good enough to be a starter on a bunch of teams, but you have no shot at starting where you are (Kelley, Hurts), I don't blame a guy for seeking a better situation for himself. Particularly with Jalen... he was a 2-year starter that got his team to the big game both years and put his team in a position to win the first one. He can play a lot of places. If he makes the decision to leave during the season, I wish him the best. I'd be shocked if he doesn't transfer by the end of the season anyway since he's graduating.

Dabo loses me when he goes on a 5-minute sidetrack about being glad God isn't a coach. I'm glad he's a man of faith, but what does any of that "we're all 5-stars" stuff have to do with what he's talking about?

He is a man of faith- I think he believes it should be in every part of his life, I guess to include talking about football.
What he means by it, maybe another thread.

I fully support Hurts leaving T-Town. After all he has brought us, I wish him the best. Every time I see him, I will wish him luck. Unless he goes to the Gators or Auburn, then forget that guy! Roll Tide! It would be kinda fun to see him at LSU.

Yeah, I know. And I feel like an ass thinking it, but sometimes I just want to say "OK, thanks coach. Now, back to the question we actually asked you."

I don’t have an issue with Bryant transferring but didn’t like his comments. Sounds like a snowflake. I mean I’ve been screwed over many times at work but it’s life and I have to move forward. Go ahead and transfer but don’t act like the position was owed to you. I didn’t hear Eason say anything when he lost the position at UGA and his situation was worse being that he was injured, although I think it was just a matter of time before Fromm beat him out. Same very well be the case for Fields over Fromm.

I just get tired of people acting like things are owed to them, go out there and earn it.

I feel Clemson coaching staff did the right thing and made a decision before game 5 and gave Bryant a clear path. I feel Bryant probably took the right action, but should have refrained from an emotional comment. Hopefully this empowers Hurts and he follows suite.
