Opinions sought: Do you think the defensive pass interference penalty should be the same in Collage as in the NFL? So many times I've seen a teams defence take the fifteen yards and automatic first down intentionally, rather then give up a long yardage pass. Example: Penalty on long 45yrd pass in NFL= first down and gain of 45 yds / In Collage = first down gain of fifteen yds.

 

I like the way it is in college ball. There is no guarantee that the catch is made so the 15 yards and 1st are plenty good enough.

I don’t see how Clemson is over Georgia. They’re 5 points away from barely being in the top 25 let alone the top 4.

Edit: I agree that they should be in the top 5-6 teams, but why over Georgia?

How can you say polls don’t mean anything when every team in the top 6 is based off of “signature wins” and strength of schedule. Polls most certainly do matter, at least to the CFP committee, when they are voting in their top 4 for the playoff.

 

Making this assumption would indicate the Vols have been good at some point, the Vols have been terrible the past six years. With that being said they ranked seventh nationally with an average attendance of 95,779 at each home game last season.

That is the total opposite of fair weather fans.

 

The only poll that matters any more is the playoff committee. The current ap and coaches are started with a pre season poll. How the fuck does any one know how good a team is in the pre season? They dont. They just guess. But their guess still determines where a team is in that poll for the rest of the season. The polls are bullshit. Just made up to give the shit heads on espn and the fans of college football something to argue about. So put all the faith you want to into the polls just know they mean nothing.

Texas was ranked pre season. (They were ranked pre season last year too after going 5-7 the year before) Then they lost to Maryland. Then they go on to beat 3 ranked teams in a row. Two of those teams aren't even ranked any more. Has any other team this season beaten 3 ranked teams? If not then according to the bullshit polls texas would be the #1 team. But we all know they aren't the #1 team. And strength of schedule is a fucking joke. Look at ou and Alabama's rankings for that. If I remember right Alabama only played one ranked team last year before the title game.

LSU beat Miami, Auburn, and Ole Miss. Who have all been ranked at some point this season. So, has any other team beaten 3 ranked teams this season? Yep, LSU. Also a much greater SOS than Texas. I'm not arguing against your points, polls are BS, but I am saying Texas ain't da best lol

 

Well you're wrong and you're right. Texas is the best. They just aren't the best team this season. That's my point. Polls are opinion usually based on nothing other than pre determined bias.

Nowhere does it say they pick teams based off of an existing poll. Now individual members may create their own top 25 based on polls they've seen but it's not what they are supposed to do. ESPN has an agenda. The AP has an agenda. The coaches poll is the lamest thing ever, coaches don't watch other teams unless they are on the schedule. Most coaches polls are filled out by the SID or some assistant. Polls are only there to get you and I to argue about who should be on them and where my team should be compared to yours.

 

I’m not sure they want UGA. Watching all the talking heads, UGA doesn’t get much screen time. They’ll mention whatever game is next in passing, but that’s about it. UGA hasn’t looked like the #2 team in the country for sure. But, they won’t be able to keep us out if we win, so I don’t care if they like us or not
