I thought Mac was going to get it, it all depends on the guy in the replay. There should be some kind of clause for how a play is developing when the hit occurs. Targeting was implemented to keep unexpecting, vonerable players from getting trucked. It is a good thing that it's a replay official making the calls on them I guess. I've seen more overturned than stand this year. But it really need to be revamped.

 

I really dont see how the official and the replay guy dropped the ball on that

I think the raising money for the billboards is a good thing. Sure, there's some humor in it since we all know the suspension won't be overturned, but it's opening eyes to the issues with the penalty and stirring up discussions. That can't be a bad thing. Also, the extra money raised is going to LSUs vet school equine program so that's cool, too.

because the arms went directly to his chest, and as the hit occurred his arms folded in and their facemasks hit. then if you watch the play the refs argue with Nick Fitzgerald to get off the field and he's arguing about something back to them.

and the play where Mack Wilson hits Jarrett Guarantano in the EXACT same spot that Devin White hit Fitz with his arms, but yet Wilson does it with the crown of his helmet and even causes collarbone injury to Garuantano.

that's why there is so much discussion on it. some LSU fans have had some fun with it and raised billboards and donations to the Equine program at LSU for Devin Whites love of horses. now it's raising discussions and questions as to the justification of the suspension of first halves of following games.

anything above the facemask to the top of the helmet and down a couple inches on all sides is the "crown". basically where a CROWN would sit, somewhat down on your forehead. he is clearly smacking him with his forehead.

I never said Wilson's should be called Targeting. I'm saying White's arms hit in the exact same location as Wilson's helmet did except that folks are claiming he led with his head or even targeted the neck/head area and it's clearly the chest.

neither should have, but if ones going to, the one with helmet leading and the injury should have.

 

Your goggles are dirty, Mack Wilson's facemask hit Garuantano square in the chest plate of his shoulder pads. I initially thought that was targeting until the replay..the replay was plain as day. Also, the targeting that got overturned on Bama's Thompson should have not only been overturned, but completely reversed and called on the offensive player. There is no question had Thompson done what the UT player did it would have been an immediate rejection 100%.
