Official 2018 NCAA Football Thread

I've done a lot of brainstorming about how to make 8 work.

My concerns
Keeping number of total games played down.
Keeping rivalry week on Thanksgiving weekend.
Interfering with students' exam time.

My solution
Season starts one week later, at expense of one of the two cupcake games.
Playoffs start the week before they do now.

Conclusion
Total number of games stays same, no extra burden.
No change between conference championship weekend and exams.
Rivalry week stays same.
Period between conference championships and playoffs seem to be one week too long, this would solve that.

 

Lookie here. If an Updyke can figure this shit out why can't the NCAA?

 

I like this too. Cut the out of conference down to one game and forbid bama from playing the fucking citadel or some other poor bastards just looking for a pay day.

 

I'm down for a floating playoff schedule too, all one loss and undefeated teams (after championship weekend) get in, by going to #1 if odd number of teams. Same schedule as I just stated, but I doubt there'll be 8 of these teams. Only problem with this is there being more than 8 but how often does that happen? In that scenario I'd add to the end.

 

By this, these teams would have played in the playoff:

2017
Alabama
Georgia
Oklahoma
Clemson
Ohio State
UCF
Wisconsin
Penn State

2016
Clemson

And then there's those who say the playoffs start rivalry week, any loss starting that game puts you out

 

they win even when they lose the game! claim them all as victories! it's sorta like Butch Jones ol' tactic of "life champions" but instead they claim it as "national champions"

It'll never happen, but I do believe this solves most arguments- I don't think anyone's arguing a two loss team should play for championship?

I dont know if I'd put money on that one...tough call.

 

I agree. But also have to keep in mind if there is a team tied with them like Michigan and ND has the edge...and Michigan wins their conference... That conference championship game gives Michigan the advantage and likely a spot in the CFP over a sitting ND team. So, although it can be a disadvantage to other teams, it can also be a disadvantage to ND for sitting at home on what is essentially a bye week.

 

Nothing like a Punter Vs Kicker Brawl! But, you'd think they would be allies.

 

Bet they still have a better kicking game/special teams than us at Bama
