that makes the point actually. LSU started 25th, why? and the others started so high, why? SPECULATION. It's all made up and predicted. just because they are ranked 6th doesn't mean they are getting credit. the have a 0% chance to win out, predicted, and a 0.8% chance to win the conference, predicted.

what are those based on? the fact bama beat Louisville and Georgia beat Austin Peay?

 

I agree it won’t be terrible. But it all depends on who he beats. The win over auburn looked good because they beat 2 #1 teams. I don’t see aTm beating 2 #1 teams.

 

I don't disagree, the rankings mean nothing to me. Like y'all said earlier, win and you're in. That's all you gotta do.

but the percentages and predictions are stupid and what I am saying gives teams more credit than they deserve and others not what they deserve.

 

I feel Miami and TCU both are over rated and them wins cancle each other out, but our win against Auburn is better then any other win Ohio state has to this point in season

 

Yea. It’s based on predictions. Based on how the team performed last year, the number of returners, the recruiting success in the offseason...

Why should LSU have been ranked higher preseason? The impressive wins over Chattanooga, the one point win agains Florida? The loss the Troy?

 

I agree with you here. The whole "when momma comes calling" thing doesn't play in this case. As much as I would love for Dabo to succeed Saban I just don't think it will happen. As you said, Dabo has built his own legacy at Clemson with having no comparisons to anyone, so whats to gain by leaving...a couple million dollars? Dabo doesn't strike me as a pure $$$ coach, he wants to be paid competitively, but he doesn't have the be paid the most. Also, by the time Saban does leave Bama, which could possibly be in the next 2 years or 10 years according to him and reports, Dabo may have already received his lifetime contract at Clemson.

 

LSU shouldn't have been ranked preseason. Honestly they have come out of nowhere and was on no ones radar. But last season shouldn't influence the current as much as it does

 

I never said LSU should have been ranked higher preseason, I was simply asking why are teams ranked where they are? what evidence is there to support certain things?

Like why is Georgia favored 75% over LSU right now when LSU has beat Auburn/Miami and UGA beat Austin Peay/MTSU? does that number even make sense?

 

Just so y'all know, this is all simply for discussion. I'm fine with LSU being the underdog in every game they play, doesn't matter to me a bit. I just don't understand where the numbers come from.

 

and it just fuels the fire for arrogant fans to claim "we the best" all season, or to "uh Miami isn't that great really but FSU was when we played them"

 

People that (typically) know more about these teams and sport than we do.

 

lol sure wish all I had around was Carolina fans.

 

just had a Bama fan coworker look at the schedule on our wall (we have a huge SEC schedule that sparks conversation all the time) come and say:

"who's to say Louisville isn't better than Miami or Auburn?" when the conversation came up that Bama hasn't played much of anyone. they're delirious lol
