This is a very good/valid point.

The reason we keep dropping is because TL has had a bad game and a half, and we only beat UNC by 1 point (who is supposed to be terrible, right?).

Anyone catch that UNC/VT game? How'd that go?


So they are not clicking right off the bat just yet. It takes a minute to get it together. Are they winning? Are they winning with some decent numbers, aside from not performing to the level everyone expected?

I'm not saying there are not teams that are performing better, but to drop a reigning champ that keeps winning (be it in the face of adversity) is silly to me.

 

And if I really really wanted to care about it...

Oregon should be above Georgia because we didn’t lose at home to a shitty ass SC team. We went to a “Neutral” site and loss to someone who is ranked above Georgia and has only one loss....

Again... that's subjective. Who and what determines what "looks good?"

Stats? Teams with some of the best stats also play in CUSA and AAC. Are theybetter than some of the top teams? Statistically UCF was one of the best teams in the nation in 2017 and 2018... best they could get was a best of group of 5 bowl. Why? Powers that be felt their "stats" weren't better than other teams.

I'm tired of hearing a team dont look good because they didnt blow out an opponent by the expected amount of points. A great team is made by overcoming near loss.
LSU... Clemson... Auburn... hell Texas... they all stared loss in the face and overcame. How will OU, OSU and the great ALA look when they are down by 4 with seconds left on the clock. All the above mentioned teams came out with a W... will they?!

But back to the root point... as long as we have subjective means to determine a championship... we will never really have a TRUE champion. There will always be arguments.

 

Oklahoma dropped three weeks in a row last year I believe. Michigan and Penn State also have enjoyed the luxury of dropping in the rankings.

 

If I remember right didn’t TCU and auburn win out and didn’t get in ?? Granted that was BCS era stuff

 

Clemson almost lost to UNC. I get it that they won, but when you’re comparing Ws, that one near miss counts. It’s subjective, but it counts.

There’s no point in bitching. Clemson wins out and they’re in.

 

They’re talking rankings, not getting left out. That TCU team got fucked over.

 

Fully understand what they are talking about... but its also a good point about the rankings being fucked

The powers that be determined the other teams "looked" better on tape.

 

Kinda like oregon getting screwed out of a championship game vs Miami because at the time Nebraska was a blue blood...

 

And FWIW... I think the BCS did a far better job determining top teams than this CFP garbage.

Love the playoff concept... despise the selection process.

 

Auburn didn't win out.

 

Go to 8 teams and get it over already. Or go two 6 teams 1-2 get bye weeks

 

Alabama is the only team to get in after losing their last game, thats all I’m saying...they’re the only ones with favoritism...well and notre dame lol
