WIN YOUR CONFERENCE. Period.

You would have every opportunity just like the lesser conferences to win. This is the stupidest loophole right now... lose in your conference and play the system to say you might be better than maybe an undefeated AAC or CUSA champ. If you were that good... you would have won out. Shut up.

 

All the SEC homers would cry if this ever came to fruition.

 

That’s just not fucking true. LSU didn’t win the sec last year and kicked UCFs ass who did win theirs. So winning your conference doesn’t necessarily mean you’re the best. Fucking dumb.

 

If you're gonna have 8 teams... do away with conference championships and just put what you think the 8 best teams are...

Then you'll have that 9th or 10th team saying their resume is better than the 7th or 8th... now you still have disputes.

Hard to argue when you won a conference to get your ticket in.

 

And not winning the SEC with a loss or two doesn’t mean you are deserving either.

 

So you’re saying an undefeated UCF that won a shit conference but got throttled by a multi loss LSU deserves to be in a 6 team playoff while LSU sits out? Makes no sense.

 

Flip of the coin... few years back AL didnt win conference and got a bowl game against a MW winning Utah team and got taken to school in their home turf of the Sugar Bowl.

Yes your right... you'll never have a 100% undisputed champion in college ball... you'd just have a harder arguement like that.

My plan is a pipedream... because my way you just might end up with an unmarketable championship game... like a UTx/Nebraska ... ( had to get a few pokes in)

Powers that be (cough ESPN cough) would never allow that to happen... so @stronghammer your idea is definitely more realistic... and I'll agree way better than our current dumpster fire.

 

What I’m saying is LSU doesn’t deserve to be there in that case.

My issue is that there should only be one team from a conference allowed in the current system.

 

And on the same tip... do you feel an Alabama team that didnt even PLAY in theirs deserved to be in that title game your team deserved to win?

Ohio State made a BIIIIIG stink about not being in when AL got in back in 2017. Rightfully so.

Last year ND just pissed people off... especially when they got throttled by CLM.

 

this makes no sense.... if Oregon wins the Pac-12 and still doesn’t get in the playoff how does my comment not make sense.

 

Because you said let someone talk if they don’t win their conference. But with only 6 spots teams will win their conference and still not get in. I just think you have to have enough space for any undefeated conference champions to make it in, period. If you’re going to swear 5 spots to the power 5 champions then 1 extra spot doesn’t leave enough space if 1 team such as UCF goes undefeated and so does a notre dame or other independent.

 

If you had two undefeated non power 5’s then you would have to go on ranking I guess. But when’s the last time you had two undefeated non power fives?? Ps ND can join acc in football... if they don’t want to treat them like a non power 5

 

I never said it happens all the time but going to 6 is very little advantage over 4 and I think going to 8 is the best solution overall.

make 5,6,7,8 play week 1 of playoffs. Their winners then play 3,4. Then those winners play numbers 1 and 2. Then rankings matter for how many games you play. I think that would be fun. Or just do 1v8 2v7 3v6 4v5 and so on for who wins.

 

I think it will be very very heavily discussed if LSU and Alabama both make it this year.
