I’m not saying other teams have proven to be better suited to play against LSU and Clemson, but most recently Alabama has proven to have lost to them so what makes them so much more proven than the others?

 

By utilizing metrics that are so finite and linear, you are removing the emotional aspect of college football.


I understand you want to have the four best teams. I dont think that can be accomplished by utilizing only linear metrics to judge them by. Yes. it isnt clean or clear. It's fuzzy and muddy and murky. It doesnt always look right. It feels like there is a way to cleanly, concisely decide who the 4 best are with numbers and metrics that can be easily printed out and agreed upon.

Because Georgia State can beat UT.
Because USCe can beat UGA.


Shit happens. Does that mean that UT is worse than Georgia State. No.
Does that mean that USCe is better than UGA? No.

It just means they were better that day.

 

Exactly. So what has bama done to prove to be ranked higher than the other 1 loss teams? Lost to the best team they played?

 

Clemson spanked Bama's ass. Last year. Different teams.

LSU beat Alabama. I like Alabama's chances if they were to meet again. Hell, Vegas would probably have Alabama as a favorite again.

My point is that CFP rankings don’t exactly matter until the end of the season, especially when UGA still has one loss ahead of them.

Will Minnesota and Ohio State play in the Big 10 game? I know their conference is set up moronic.

 

Hey man, I dont know either. Again, you're looking for an answer that cant be definitively answered because everyone's schedules are so different, who they've played, where they were ranked etc.

This isnt an easy thing to figure out, or someone would have already done so.

They tried taking much of the human element out of it. LSU ended up playing Alabama again. lOl.

 

Yeah they will. And I agree it does to a degree settle itself out. But sometimes teams get preference only because of previous ranking. So where they get ranked week to week matters.

 

This just saves Kirby the embarrassment of blowing another CFP game.

I dont care. I put that in there because it is crazy, just like it was crazy last Saturday for a lower ranked team to be a favorite.

I want a clean crisp way that decides this stuff too. I just dont think there is a way to do it. There will always be an argument that team "x" deserves it more. Because humans are biased.

Then, if the NCAA gives in to the humans complaining because they thought team "x" deserved it more, they'd be adding a human element, and then they'd come up with a playoff system utilizing that human element making it all grimey and murky again.

 

I mean, they are the only team that's hung with the (then ranked) number two team in the country.

 

LSU wasnt ranked #2 when Auburn played them.


See. None of this is clean. It isnt easy and crisp.

 

Which makes the week to week rankings matter!

 

I boil it down to the same ‘blue blood’ or whatever bullshit they want to call it for NCAAMBB.

Until Alabama takes a second loss, that first is nearly a mulligan.

 

Like I've stated before, it was easy to see that Alabama was going to have to go undefeated with the schedule they had this year. Some things have changed, as LSU has emerged. It would have been nice to see Auburn and another SECW team emerge to be ranked at least in the top 12. Maybe UT can get their shit together next.

But, Alabama was going to have to go undefeated to get in. That includes the SECCG.

They didnt.

Therefore, I have a very hard time saying they should be in, specifically with the rest of the schedule not ranked very high and with LSU probably not dropping two games, Alabama wont have a chance to play for the SECCG.


Their resume this year sucks. That DOESN'T however detract from the eye test evaluations. That isn't an excuse or me vying for Alabama to be in.

 

But now it’s proven that even with a weak schedule Alabama might not have to go undefeated.
